If you think it's hot in the house because it's mid-summer and the A/C is already actively running pretty much around the clock, turning the thermostat down even lower is not going to make it any cooler....
That's my wife. If you turn the thermostat down 5 degrees even though it's below the room temperature, it will cool the house faster.
I'm convinced having a penis is required in order to comprehend how a thermostat works...
My brother does not understand how air conditioning works. He thinks turning the temp down to 60 an the truck will cool it faster than at 68 in a hot day. Same as in the house. He just bought a new 2 story house and if had to explain that the upstairs thermostat needed to be set a couple degrees higher than downstairs.
