Define fat people. I'm 6'1" 265 and not really fat but have wondered about the comfort of a saddle. I'd like to at least try it. LOL, keep telling yourself that. I am also 6'1" and have now reached 280 for the first time in my life. According to my doctor, I became OBESE at the weight of 230. I don't feel fat either but saying that based on what the talking heads say, we are OBESE.

I think the better question is do they make anything for skinny people these days. The saddle I have will fit a much bigger man than me and I only got the large version not the XL. Trophyline covert pro

Yes. I started using a Tethrd saddle last year and have hunted this year from a Cruzr XC. I carry a set of Lone Wolf sticks and have other places where I've put sticks up and left them. I also use a platform. I also have ladders and hang-ons. To answer the question, when I started using the XC, I was over 320# and still had adjustment left. I'm now below 250# and still within the adjustable range of the straps. I don't plan to ever tote a climber again.

Im 6'2" 255 and have used one for a season and a half. I have been using a tehtrd phantom and recently upgraded to the latitude method 2 XL. It has plenty of room and zero hip pinch like the tethrd had. To me, it is more comfortable than a loc on, but not quite as comfortable as a climber. Once you figure out desired tethrd and bridge length they can be extremely comfortable. I love the freedom it provides.

There are benefits to the saddle, I get it... but being scared chitless while dangling from a single piece of rope really offsets the benefits to me at least.
Nothing can really hold a candle to a climber as far as safety and comfort.....you're surrounded while metal in the climber but trusting your life to a piece of rope and the little Ropeman device if you're in a saddle.
Some of you guys should consider a career in the NFL if you are as big as you say you are....you're either embellishing on that height figure or you're not and I wouldn't dare say that to your face
I am 6' on the button, 233 lbs on the bathroom scales this morning...I honestly feel like I could loose some weight but no one has ever called me fat...in the saddle's defense, it has held me up in a tree as big around as a baseball bat with no problems. My fear of heights is probably in my head and if I am careful I probably wouldn't have an issue but I can't stop looking down and it scares the frak out of me

JX3 looks comfortable. Mine just arrived yesterday so I’m going to try it out. It was 300 ish when I ordered it and now they are 459. I’m going to try the wild edge steps with it. It is rated for 300lbs.

I get what you are saying but I trust that rope WAY more than the Chinese steel and pins used in today’s climbers. I worked in the Crane industry for 15 years so I have been WAY higher than most folks but I still get a little butthole pucker when I get above 20’ and im ALWAYS tied in. I think the saddle would be great for finding concealment when bow hunting.

AC, be sure you're up to speed about how to climb. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Have a checklist before you go up the tree. Saddle, lineman's belt, carabiners, lineman belt length, stick height, aider (?), all that stuff.
Never climb above your lineman's belt or your tether to minimize falls.

I have a really good friend that fell 30ft from a saddle, year before last. I know nothing about saddles. He said he heard a "snap" then fell landing face down before daylight. He had a can of nosejammer in his shirt pocket, it looked like a smashed beer can.it also broke ribs, both ribs and his nose. He's 47 and walked like a 80 year old man. He climbed back up to retrieve his new rifle and bag, I would've left that stuff!!! He still saddle hunts but I never will, I got to many health problems anyway, he's tuff..and something else!!@

Does he know what happened or snapped to cause his fall?
I've saddle hunted for 2 seasons now. Haven't had a butt pucker moment so far, not saying it won't happen at some point. Like most saddle hunters I try different gear to find my favorite setup.
Side note, if anyone wants to try it out or learn, I'm happy to meet you some where and let you climb in mine. I use a tethrd phantom, and have both line wolf sticks and predator platform, as well as, a one stick setup with rapel rope, and a lone wolf hand climber top I use some.
