Never used a saddle but nothing about it looks appealing to me. I will just stick with my climber. All the trees I see them sitting in I could get up in 1/2 the time with my climber. All the videos I see it appears they go through heck trying to pull a bow back in them.

They make climbers for fat people. They aren't the best for hiking in miles deep, but I have never encountered a fatty that far from the road.

They are a pretty neat idea. I just don’t think I’m ready to get out of my office chairs that are in my shooting houses. I mean my 300lb ass hang from a string 20 ft up a tree sounds like a blast and all, but I will pass. I managed to survive the years of sitting on a 2x4 nailed in the fork of a tree, no real sense in pressing my luck.

There are options out there but I couldn’t tell you how they would fit for a big dude. The platform for a big dude is your other issue. A lot of the platforms aren’t made for dudes over 300. I’ll see if I can find a post from saddlehunter.com. This question get asked quite often there.

Safety is not the issue in the saddle itself, the saddles are rated way over what your body could stand in a fall. Depending on how big you will limit your options.

I'm over 3 bills and I hunt out of a saddle all the time. Nothing to it. I have an Aero Hunter Kestrel. I used Wild Edge steps (which I don't really like) and the Wild Edge Perch platform. I'm usually good for 5-6hrs.
I have back problems, so if I'm going in more than a couple hundred yards or if the terrain sucks, I'm using my saddle. If it's straightforward, I have a Tree Lounge. YMMV.

It’s a huge amount of work putting up and taking down stands every year, plus the disturbance of doing that, and the tendency to hunt a spot with a stand vs a new spot where you have to tote a climber. I avoid all that now. Got rid of most of my lockons and just use my saddle and spurs. I really think my tendency to try “unhunted” spots has resulted in me killing more good deer the last few years.
