Congrats on the two deer. I guess that first one wasn't to hard to trail. Nothing like some fresh venison for the freezer. Personally, I like your management program. You already managed to kill two deer while we are all sitting around here on our a## waiting for Oct 15.

First off little buddy, don't hate because I own land in Kentucky and you have to pay a few grand to go.
Second, I will put my bucks up against yours any day. Just because I take a 2 1/2 year old deer with an extremely odd ugly set of horns out of my herd does not mean that I am not managing my deer. I will post pics of the numerous small 4's 6's and 8's I let walk this year (like I do every year).
Lastly, size doesn't always have to matter with horns. That was my first kill with my new bow, my first kill after losing my father, and my first opening day kill. So yeah, that buck, as little as it may be, is quite a special harvest for me. And your little smart ass remarks are not going to rob me of them.
But really bro....STOP HATIN'!
First and foremost, Congrats on the kills! Wish it was me hunting this early. But, if that deer is 2 1/2 I'll kiss your @ss! (and I'm not an @ss kisser, lol)

Congrats on the meat!  Forget the negative comments on the buck. Everybody's a critic till they get in the stand. Any deer killed with a bow should be a proud harvest. Get past the jerks on this forum and its a great place to lurk.

I will guarantee you one thing. Those here that made negative comments do not own or lease any land that is adjacent to your privately owned land so what should it matter to them if you kill a deer that doesn't meet their standard?

Serious question... are you limited out in KY on bucks? I know that out of state hunters have a one buck limit but I don't know your state of residency or if you're a landowner in KY or even if that makes a difference.
Looks like nice shots on both deer. Congrats on shot placement.

Yes he is limited out on bucks as for privite land. Resident and Non-Resident are only allowed one buck per season on privite land. No such thing as land owner tags in KY. He can apply for qouta hunt on a WMA or hunt Fort Campbell for an extra buck. Other than he is done buck hunting in KY.

Yes you are only allowed one buck period in KY on privite land. When you buy your $190 tag and license it is good for one buck and one doe. You can use that tag and license for bow, rifle and muzzle loader. Once you have killed a buck with visable antlers with any leagal weapon you are done buck hunting. KY is not like other states where you must purchase a seperate tag to hunt gun season or muzzle loader. You can purchase additional doe tags over the counter in cetain zones in KY. KY has a loop hole where you can apply for WMA qouta hunts for an additional buck. If not drawn for this hunt then no more buck. Also one can hunt Fort Campbell for an additional buck. KY has a tele check honor system to report the harvest of deer and turkey. It is similar to Bama except you must call and record the confirmation number on your license. tyrcreek congrats on the kills....you smoked'em

Yikes!!! Squeaky, he's limited out on bucks this year? Wow! That kinda reminds me that several years ago while in college, I saw a T-shirt a guy was wearing that said, "Why wait? Go ugly early!" Congrats on your successful weekend and nice shootin'!! I do however agree with Troy - that's a 1.5 year old but he'll eat good. Regarding the (your words) "...taking out a 2 1/2 year old deer with an extremely odd ugly set of horns out of my herd..." I suppose by you saying that, that you're managing for higher scoring, "pretty" typical antlers? I guess it depends on what you're managing for but 1.5 year old bucks, in general terms of deer mgrs/biologists regarding mgmt, should be given a year or two more years before such decisions are made to eliminate the buck out of the herd based on what the deer mgr is looking for. Especially up there in KY, if you are making harvest decisions based on antler size or configuration, most biologists would suggest delaying your buck harvest decisions past 1.5 yr olds. No cracking on your buck cause if you're happy, I'm happy! You can always go back to KY during the rut and film bucks chasing. KY's a great deer hunting state. I get a ton of fun from filming big bucks chasing does after I've limited out. Good luck with your hunting property up there! Congrats!
