In all honesty I can't speak for their newer bows. I just know their history. And if that is the case, and the Maxxis is showing weaker limb designs then they have failed their mission.

The fact is that cables, cams, and strings will not hold up to dry fires. Hoyt doesn't even make that claim. I like Hoyt bows and have owned a few as well as Mathews. Now I just happen to shoot Elite. It just gets stale hearing my bow is better than your bow. Bottom line is that there are several great bow companies but from time to time they all have problems.
