Ernie, I respect your thoughts and opinions, maybe you should read the last sentence or so of my OP. “ A man should do what he thinks best for him and his”. Is that not what you just said back to me??? Good luck with your future hunts and them are some good pics. Something to be proud of no doubt. I just stated an opinion like you and anyone can. Would like to see some Alabama kills of your as well, I’m sure there is plenty of them. 👍🏻👍🏻

To me it seems like prairie dog hunting would be awesome, always wanted to do it. Somehow I suspect I would end up with spanged ankle though lol.

First, I owe you an apology, since I did NOT read all of it.
I got so far, and thought, how many times have I read similar rants...

Yes, in a thread you started, you stated your opinion (which you have the right to do), to presumably tear down others.
[b]“A man should do what he thinks best for him and his”

If the above is really your conviction, why the negative judgment on others that do it differently than you?
Your sarcasm is noted.
Closest big game kills to Alabama are not from your state, but a few states away, SC. The deer might be a little smaller in the lowlands of SC...Not really sure.
They died about the same way deer have died in any place I have hunted them though.
I am not sure how that applies to your original post.
I was invited to check out this forum, so I have. It wasn't like I found it accidentally.
Thanks-Buck and doe antelope tags are already filled, and Elk and whitetail deer are next up from now through November.
More whitetail and hopefully hogs after the first of the year in a different state (Not Alabama).

Well, if you are not watching where you step that is a possibility. In many places where prairie dogs thrive, rattlesnakes cohabit as well...Another reason to watch where you are stepping

Good for her!

In teaching men and women over the years to shoot, I have noticed that girls or women in general (not always) are easier to teach.
The first time my daughter ever fired a centerfire rifle was when she was 15 or 16 years old.
She came up with me to Pella, Iowa for a 1000 yard match.
They had a added a club 1000 yard handgun match, and she would be shooting her 6.5-284 MOA Maximum at 1000 yards, with a 3-12 Burris pistol scope.
One of the guys there, had won one the state match (Light Gun) the previous year, and heard she was coming up with me. He let her shoot his rifle.
When she was in her "sighter period" she was smoking the clay pigeons they used for sighters, and she stopped and said to me, "shooting a rifle is so easy!"
She won her relay for score and advanced to the shoot-off...She was a very happy teenage girl.
Since she got married she has been busy with work and children (they live in Maryland), but her husband is a avid hunter. Maybe when things slow down, she will get back into it.

So youre saying you love running dogs and should be able to hunt like you want , even if YOUR dogs go on other peoples property ruining what THEY are trying to do on their land.

And in the same breath you put down "Trophy Hunters" who see things differently and try to do things their way. And I am pretty sure that those people are running QDM clubs that you were speaking about that limited guests.

I am amazed when people act like "Trophy Hunting" and managing game is bad, but chasing deer with dogs, shooting everything you see and your dogs going on other peoples property is fine. That is some very selfish and subjective thinking there my friend.

The QDM "Trophy Hunter" type is not going to do ONE THING that adversely affects you or your hunting, but your hunting is definitely going to affect his plans of low pressure and managing what they shoot. You may need to try to see both points of view and not just look at through the lense of what YOU like.

Boy you make a lot of assumptions.
I never said it was ok for dogs to be on other people’s property. I said “trophy” hunters complain about it running all their big bucks off. They say this even when dogs don’t run on their property, they don’t want it in the entire county. I never said managing deer or habitat was bad, I said “trophy” hunters that feel killing a big deer is more important than involving friends and family in hunting is bad. I enjoy bringing people to my little piece by the river to see and kill deer and I enjoy hunting public land all over the state. The “trophy hunter type” are adversely effecting everyone in Alabama’s hunting as they are killing our culture and having laws changed for “trophy” buck hunting. Oh by the way I haven’t taken a buck off my property in five years but I damn sure don’t get mad at my neighbors that do kill the bucks I chose not to.

If somebody wants to pour out some corn so jr. can kill a deer more power to them if they enjoy it. It’s not hard to kill deer without it. I don’t have cameras or feeders or anything but I could not care less what anyone else does. I may hunt a greenfield once or twice a year out of a shooting house. The rest of the time I’m in a climber or on the ground. Deer hunting in general isn’t as fun as it used to be to me. But I still enjoy it. And probably still do it as much or more than the average person. Now I usually just load my beagles up to go chase a bunny or 3 and shoot one occasionally . Kids seem to love it and most adults I’ve been with do too. Just some good clean fun without jealousy and bickering about so and so did this or that, shouldn’t have shot that one etc.As long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters to me.
