Hoggin I did the same thing and I understand what you’re saying completely to a point but eventually a person may run out of places to go and this insurance business is getting out of hand companies are charging more and more and wanting to pay less someone sometime is going to have to take a stand sooner or later or we will be working for nothing but insurance.

Did the miners at Warrior Met agree to work for they pay/benefits they are receiving? If so, unless Warrior Met is trying to take that pay/those benefits away, what are they striking for?
I'm asking because I honestly don't know.
The Brookwood miners took major concessions after the owners of the former Jim Walter Resources looted the company and ran. Some of those same leaders acquired the assets of JWR through the bankruptcy proceedings to form Warrior Met. Part of the deal was to get the Court to invalidate the "lifetime" benefits of JWR employees who had accepted lower wages than would have otherwise been demanded in order to receive those benefits. Now that Warrior Met is up and running strong, and making profits big enough to dole out million dollar bonuses to manages, the miners who played big part in getting them there are asking for increased wages, benefits and working conditions. It's hard to understand why so many here can't bring themselves to support them under those circumstances. They call me stupid and ignorant because I choose to support them.

So you’re saying health insurance workers should go on strike before insurance companies kill us all.
Health insurance ain’t a constitutional right, hell I I had to go without it for 4 years after obummercare came along. Me nor my employer could afford it the first 2 years and I damn sure couldn’t afford it when I was my employer the next 2

It seems like insurance is going up everywhere steadily , I believe it truly is costing companies more to provide it , most pay a percentage of it in various degrees. I know I pay more now than I used to but the percentage I pay is the same , this may not be the case for everyone tho . Just out of curiosity is that a Long wall operation or conventional?
If your gonna be stupid you gotta be tuff

Yes and if I was that upset I would find another job. Would you leave this country is you were not happy with its leadership? Is that your solution to problems... run away? Some people have enough balls to stand and fight for what they deserve. It's a free country though. Your choice may not be someone else's. I'm glad there are those who are willing to fight. I've done a little of that myself at times. See that’s what y’all don’t get. It’s a free market, it’s capitalism. If a company has constant turnover and can’t keep good workers, anybody with a brain is likely going to think “hm, how can we attract and keep workers?” I.e., better benefits, higher pay. I don’t need a union to do my bidding. If I think I deserve better, I’ll go get better, whether it be by attaining certifications, more education, taking a pay increase at another job, etc. It’s no one’s job but mine to take care of me. I guess that’s just the sense of self preservation and work ethic my father instilled in me.

Well I will say this and I’m going to leave it alone when the government raises taxes it equals less money in our pockets we all raise cane,it’s law we pay taxes right? When the company raises our insurance premiums for no reason guess what it’s less money in our pockets and guess what it’s law we have insurance but according to you and a few others we should just keep eating it,Well guess what bs if you can’t afford to pay your employees and provide descent insurance that is required by law you shouldn’t be able to operate a business because without good employees your business wouldn’t survive anyway.

Me nor my employer could afford it the first 2 years and I damn sure couldn’t afford it when I was my employer the next 2 Allow me choose my own words hoggin. Don't make up crap I didn't say and say I said it. I had insurance I earned that was much better than "obummercare". I accepted lower wages in order to have the insurance because "insurance ain't a constitutional right". I had to earn those insurance benefits as well as my pension. A bankruptcy judge took it away along with my pension to help keep the mines open under "new" owners with a different name. I understand you and most here think that's great. Work in a miner's boots and see how it feels to have your own government rob you of what you earned fair and square so that rich investors" and company managers can continue to make money off the back of Brookwood coal miners.

You do realize that insurance usually goes up for employees because it goes up for employers, right? They’re usually not just increasing the cost to make more of a profit…..

Free markets allow coal miners to negotiate contracts with coal companies who are willing to enter into those contracts with them. What is it about that that doesn't fit "it's a free market, it's capitalism"? Maybe I don't have a brain, but it seems to me that you're the one that don't get it.

Coal miners got way more to worry about than walking a Pickett line. They had better be happy to go to work. Brandon will shut them all down soon enough if they don’t watch it

How many here have actually worked in the mines? I've been through Mammoth Caves, does that count?

No, they don’t understand that at all and never will on any level. They don’t have a clue that companies don’t get to just print more money. They absolutely have no idea that companies can’t just raise prices because some asshat thinks he’s “deserves” something. Companies today often compete in a global market l, explaining that to these two would be like teaching a rat to count to 10. Ignorance and entitlement. Only difference in that a the way a welfare monger operates is one wants whatever comes to the box and a platform to bitch about how little it is and the other wants to bitch while driving a new truck so he gets outta bed earlier but don’t really like it.

I know all price increases aren’t a direct reflection of insurance but I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum and I’m not talking about mom and pop businesses I’m talking corporations. Ive seen profits increase by 50% and insurance premiums increased at the same time that to me is rediculous I’m sorry you all can say what you want and say you would do this and that but until you have seen it lived it your just talking with no facts.

These same miners will bitch just like the rest of us that a new truck is $60k but the union floor sweeper at GM knows damn well $35 an hour to push a broom is nothing compared to what the rich investors upstairs owe his hard working ass
But really now that I consider it, those hard working coal miners oughta get a new 1ton for free every year if the rich investors can afford one. Hell, fair is fair.

Calling wages and benefits provided for by contracts entered into voluntarily by coal miners and coal mine operators "ignorance and entitlement" and insinuating that those coal miners are "welfare mongerers" tells me a lot about you hoggin. Walk a mile in a coal miner's boots and then see if you judge him by those standards.
