Interested and trying to name a couple places on my property, you know that always helps.
Tell me the name or names of some stands you have out there that are NOT the norm.

I named a stand "Lady Luck" because it was an almost guaranteed doe kill. It has never let me down for any guest I have had whose never killed a deer.

Fire away!

Most of the time with us the stand either has to earn its name or its named after a landmark or feature. Or its named after the person who's idea it was to put it up.

We typically end up naming our fields or stands based on either a geographical feature, or something significant that happened there, IE:

"rattlesnake" or "copperhead" because of having killed a large or several of them on the field or in that general area.

Yep. We had a yellowjacket field. That was a painful process naming that field.

We have one called the Earpiercer. The first year we had the field, my dad shot at an 8pt chasing a doe, and shot a hole through its ear. The buck stopped, and second shot was perfect. Pretty good buck.

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

Copperhead, Moccasin, Panther Field, Bobcat, Ridge Field, Hightower. Got a tri-pod in real good spot we called "the machine gun nest' (due to all the brass on the ground around that one). Always name ours after something around it that means something. If it's just a plain jane stand, we put an number on it until it earns a name.

Have one called the hammer. Looks like someone traced a claw hammer when you look at satellite images. Had one named the commissary on the land I think Alhawk hunts now. It was a few hundred square foot dirt floor building that was on the original road that went from Thomaston to union town. We used the old store for the shooting house until a storm blew a giant oak on it. I still have several hundred feet of that hundred and something year old wood.

Amen Corner, Death Trap, Big Field, Little Field, Sharon (ohhhhhhh Sharon, what do you do to these men...WSP), Swamp Stand, Nuclear Hill, Momma-nem’s, The Ledge

My all time favorite stand name was a great big ol turkey foot shaped field with a shooting house in the middle of it all. We called that stand Steak Biscuit because if you sat there you were just about guaranteed to tag out early enough to still get a biscuit from Hardee’s.

Bee tree there was a hollow tree full of bee beside it. 6 point bench missed a 6 point 6 steps from the tree. Too tall , bow kill , broke ladder it’s fixed now but the name stuck. Oak flat

We've had the possum patch , the duck hole, rattlesnake ridge...

We currently have a stand that we call "that bid d*** hill", because well... it's a really big d*** hill that will leave you cussing when you leave.

We also had one we use to call "Ol' Rickity". It was a pallet that had been pulled up into a tree and nailed in to a 3-way fork with a loose bucket sitting on it for a seat. It was a straight death trap.

I tend to stick with original names like new lease, across the street and power line stand.

Why am I not surprised that you’ve got a stand named after a Hardee’s biscuit?!!? rofl rofl rofl

The Penthouse was way way up on the side of a huge Hickory overlooking a cut over. It was like looking out a penthouse window.

Chimney field. That ones obvious

The Biologic. That what was planted every year

Red field. Red clover

Thirty footer. Actually 30 feet to the floor

Green bucket field had 2 stands, the ladder and the dog house

Vomit tree. A platform up on a pine that always seemed to sway in the wind.

The Bowl. Stand on a creek crossing and the terrain was such that it looked like being on stage in a huge amphitheater.

Back when we hunted paint rock valley, the club had one called, the sh*t humper stand. It was absolute heck to hike too. My dad wanted to hunt it one morning so I told him how to get to it, and he never ask to hunt there again. LOL. Had one in Auburn called the flat tire field, guess what always happened there.
