Does anyone with a home security system have any advice on which system to get or stay away from? We have a problem with thugs trying to break into houses in my neighborhood. Thanks in advance!

My girlfriends house got broke into in march, on Que a week later the adt door to door salesmen came thru her neighborhood. After some sweet talking , she got a keypad with wireless connection to police, fire, and medical, one motion detector, two door sensors, three window sensors, and two key fobs for free and payments are 44 a month. I'm sure u can find something a little cheaper but all in all, I think we got a good deal. If you have a hard line, it will drop the monthly fee abt 8-10$
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

Be careful with the adt contracts. I got locked into a 3 year deal because I didn't read the paper work thoroughly. If you are planning on moving it is a hassle to deal with but if this is a long term residence i would recommend them. Their systems have been great for me.

We use Vecter because it is monitored locally and have a faster response time than ADT, who we did use. I have 2 glass break sensors, 4 door sensors, 1 motion detector, 2 remotes and 2 key pads. One key pad downstairs as you come in the garage and one in the bedroom. That way if the alarm goes off at night I can look at the screen and see where the alarm was tripped. The system also has a smoke alarm that will call the fire department if tripped, a direct call to the police and ambulance. I can call any of the three with the push of a button. The service costs me $34.00 a month.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts,hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

So far so good.

Let me get this straight. Thugs enter your neighborhood and two days later ADT shows ? Sounds like they used meat tenderizer ! They closely monitor the crime reports and then prey on fear. I think that sometimes they create unreasonable fear.

Whatever system you go with get an extra external loudspeaker/alarm...one that will get your neighbors attention/annoy them enough to give a darn. Yep. The police obviously would prefer silent alarms, but if you want to protect your stuff, this is a way to go. Another thing I'm seeing now is having blue lights on top of the siren. When it goes off, it looks like the police are already there. The bad dudes haulass.

I was thinking a speaker with German shepards barking aggressively........fastest man I have ever seen was our garbage guy in a pair of 10$ rubber boots after my lab who was out of her kennel rounded the corner of the house with every hair backwards and showing her teeth......I'm not talking abt kinda gone, I mean GONE. Dogs can get a thugs attention quick

Best security system there is has got to be a fence.

I had been wanting a security system for when I am traveling for work and the wife is home by herself. I just jumped on this deal due to the free equipment and installation.

Dont get one thats tied to a landline. Use one thats cellular.
