How far have you shot and actually hit what you were aiming at with a traditional crosshair scope? No BDC / MIL stuff. Obviously it depends on caliber and ballistic coefficient of the projectile. Just wondering what people have done. And I mean like a 20”x 20” size target.

435 yards. Fence line to fence line on some property we used to have. Dad killed several with his 270 after they jumped the fence onto us. Hold the horizontals even with their ears and the vertical with their front legs.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

I kilt one one time at 420 yds with a 223 and ballistic tips. I aimed just a scunt hair over the treeline. Was a windy day too

I've killed a pile of groundhogs 400 plus with a .270 and 4-12 scope . Longest shot on a deer was 425 with a 30-06 BAR topped with a straight 4X weaver scope.

When I lived in Pa. I shot silhouette out to 500 pretty well. Never shot an animal out past about 250.

In the Army I could hit the 300 meter target with iron sights no problem, I have killed a couple of deer at 200 yds with my 308.
