We are in need of a new refrigerator and need opinions and advice. We have always had a side by side, but I have been interested in french door or bottom drawer freezer styles. The husband is afraid that a bottom drawer freezer would be a nightmare to dig through and is hesitant on this style. I'm a little uneasy about some brands due to poor reviews, particularly Samsung, although they are the most affordable. For those that have had any of these styles, what are the pros and cons? Any particular brands, stores, warranty info and general opinions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

We have a bottom drawer and like it. I wouldn’t recommend a samsung. We dealt with them on a dishwasher warranty, and never again.

All I have is avoid Samsung. I prefer a side by side.

Samsung is in fact garbage. I have no opinion on style other than a good ol' top freezer has always done just fine for us. With a bigger freezer in the back room of course.

We have a Frigidaire Gallery. Double door on top and freezer on bottom. It’s been good. The top ice maker (for the door dispenser) will occasionally freeze up but otherwise no issues.

Avoid Samsung and LG like the plague.

We’ve got a LG French door fridge and love it. The best feature is the second ice maker in the bottom drawer, we use a lot of ice in this house between the four of us. The bottom main drawer is divided into two smaller drawers with side to side dividers that really help with organizing groceries. When I placed my appliance order 1st quarter 2020 there were supply chain issues and I was limited as to what was available in the black stainless finish I wanted. I wasn’t thrilled to have to settle with the LG but all of the appliances have exceeded my expectations.

I bought my mom the same fridge and she’s been a big fan as well so it appears lightning struck twice, neither of us are what you could call “easy to please.”

We have a kitchenaid double door with freezer on bottom...it can be cumbersome but we have a regular stand up freezer that we store most stuff in....we've had this fridge going on 5 years and I've got a call out now to get something repaired either fan motor or compressor...I ain't to happy about that

We put in a suite of Blomberg appliances when we remodeled the kitchen. The fridge is a bottom drawer freezer with a double capacity ice maker. It makes 10lbs of ice per day.

Currently have an LG bottom freezer and we like it.

Last one was Samsung, and it was awful. Icemaker would work for a month, and then just stop. No warning, nothing to be done to change it. Then, it would start up again. Might work one day, might run a month.

Will never buy another Samsung appliance.

Local guys in the appliance here will tell you keep it simple and they all seem to really like Whirlpool. Samsung is a big NO.

Whirlpool is the Toyota of refrigerators. We bought a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side almost ten years ago and it hasn't failed at all. The G.E. we had previously only lasted 7 years.

Go with the Whirlpool. They are easy to work on if they go bad.

My biggest consideration on the last one I bought was ice capacity and GE had the best available. I don’t think you will find any French style with the ice capacity of a side by side. My laundry room fridge is a French door and it’s fine if you keep it organized because it’s not deep enough to actually lose stuff.

We have had two of the gallery refrigerators. Mrs. Irish just had to have them. Marketing works. grin The gallery fridges have all the disadvantages of a side by side and a chest freezer and none of the advantages. After two we gave up on them and replaced them with a Whirlpool side by side. We have never looked back... We are buying a small chest freezer for the basement, just to have more freezer space.
