I am looking into buying a new bow. I currently have a Bear Lights Out, and I was wondering if the new Mathews Z7 is that much better. My Bear is a decent bow, but it just doesn't seem to have the speed. Just looking for some information on whether the Mathews would be worth the upgrade.

Just got mine setup and it's the best bow I've ever shot hands down...

I haven't shot one yet, but I have read several good reviews. Where is the best place (best buy) to get one. I have priced them at few shop in my area, and the best price I found was 775.00. Thats the naked bow and before tax.

If you haven't shot one, and you plan on spending the money on ANY new bow, you owe it to yourself to shoot 3 or 4 of the top bows from every manufacturer and see what fits you best. Don't let the name Mathews sell you a bow, there are many smaller companies that make equally good bows. Go shoot a couple of bows from Mathews, Hoyt, PSE, Bowtech, Elite, New Breed, and my current favorite Strother. Don't let someone sell you a NAME. That being said, I shot the Mathews Z7 and it is a very nice shooting bow (I just personally think it is ugly).

Go to Archery Unlimited in Prattville, shoot the Mathews and the Hoyt. He will beat $775 on the Z7 as well.

I plan on shooting several before I buy one. I was just curious if there was significant difference between my Bear and the Z7. Without shooting one, I am leaning toward the Z7. I bought the Bear, as a beginner bow, and have really enjoyed it. The Bear just doesn't have the zip that my buddies bows have. Thanks for the replies.

Hoyt, Matthew's, Bowtech.... they're all good bows but there is one BEST... that's Archery Unlimited (and Rick!)

Go to Bennetts archery in wetumpka and talk to Mike. He'll hook you up with the Z7 for 699$ out the door.

I haven't shot the bow you have, but my guess is that the Z7 would be a step up, however, if you won't zip, the Z7 is not at the top of that category. Find you a Strother SR-71 and you can mix speed with smooth and quiet.

Whatever you do, don't listen to foldemup. Me and L. Thompson striped that arse for him on the 3d course a couple of weekends ago even though he had been shooting that Strother every day and we had to knock the cobwebs off of our bows.

North Bama, if Mathews suits you get it. I shoot Mathews and wouldn't consider another brand. I like a smooth bow thats fast and quiet. Mathews makes a fine bow simple as that. Good Luck.

I bought my Bear 1 1/2 years ago, and I thought it was great. It was a much better bow than my old one (Phoenix). I was shooting with a buddy, and his mission bow just performed better than mine. When I shot his mission, it just didn't feel right to me. So I decided I wanted another one.
