All of these threads make me nervous. I've owned 3 Silverados that were all just alike - extended cab with the 5.3 engine. Had a 2007, 2011, and driving a 2017 now. I never had a bit of trouble with any of them, just did the scheduled maintenance and that was it. I traded them around 100,000 miles and with all the incentives for buying new I think I always got to drive a fairly new and dependable truck for a reasonable amount. I always got the 60/40 leather seating and thought they were the most comfortable vehicles on the market, and that is a big deal for me with all my back trouble.

I just did the 45,000 mile transmission flush and filter change, and I have wondered how many people do that? The schedule used to call for that change at 75,000, and I wonder if people are going by the new schedule. GM keeps changing the transmissions because of the EPA mandates to improve fuel economy. It's a lot like the junk they have to put on tractors now; JD doesn't wanna do that, the government is forcing it on them. I don't understand how Toyota is still able to gear their trucks down so much and have great power but poor fuel economy. Are they under a different set of rules?

I don't put but about 10k miles a year on mine now, so maybe it will hold together until I'm too old to need a truck.
