I had a 2003 extended cab 4x4 with the 2.7 engine. Bullet proof truck and made with the build quality that can only be found today in the Lexus Brand but it couldn't pull its shadow. I currently hunt with a 2009 double cab 4x4 with the 4.0 6cyl engine. In my humble opinion the 4.0 6cyl is the best all around Toyo engine balancing power and reliability. But the build quality of the 2005-2015 is not up to par with the 1st Gen Taco. The 2016+ Tacoma (3rd Gen) i will never own. Engine is has less power, transmission is jittery and it aint near as tough. Truth
