Years ago in Indiana, I had a coop and a few layers. Something was knocking them off the roost one at a time.
I decided to check it at 2 am one night after returning from drinking.
You can fire a 12 gauge 4 feet from a roosting Chicken, and they won't even move.
I literally caught the Possum reaching up for their feet as I entered.
Had to explain to nearby neighbor who no doubt thought I was crazy.
