One thing that people seem to forget is that "bath" soap is usually a moisturizing bar rather than soap. This just spreads the oil all around the more you wash. Use only Ivory or REAL soap, or even better Dawn dish liquid to wash/bathe with as soon as possible after exposure. Scrub the areas where you know you came in contact just like you are trying to remove grease from working on your car.

I’m so thankful I’m not allergic to it. Never had it. Now I’ve had chiggers so bad I’ve scrubbed with steel wool and bleach

Not sure what "pills" you received from the doc but if he did not give you oral steroids(prednisone), then that is probably your best bet. Z-pack was mentioned earlier, but that is an antibiotic and won't do anything unless you scratch yourself raw and develop a secondary infection of the skin.

Not sure if it helps but putting urine on the itching areas has been reported to work. Maybe this is where the beer really helps, keep drinking and urinating rofl

Z-Pak is Zithromax an antibiotic.

I bet you are thinking of a "dose pak" which contains a tapering dose of prednisone.

Dawn soon after exposure will help. Steroids will lessen the severity of it but you just have to wait it out and apply topicals to it. I’ve compounded some stuff before that was a 1:1 ratio of Benadryl and triamcinolone cream. That seems to lessen the symptoms as well.

Had a friend's grandpa that swore that kerosene and a wire brush would take care of rashes....but, I think he was referring to those obtained from fauna, not flora.

Jump in a freshly chlorinated pool. It'll dry it right out.

Oral steroid and cortisone creme. It doesn't run through your blood. It's just that all spots don't pop up at the same rate.

Tecnu poison ivy scrub to get rid of the Urushiol. You can put chlorox on it if you are tough enough. Going to burn though.

Technu is the best scrub I’ve tried, medrol packs and steroid shots usually help start to dry it out. For some of you that battle poison ivy all summer ive had good luck with the Teledoc app and doctors prescribing medrol dose packs over the phone app. Saves a trip to a walk in, you can attach pics of the rash to your app when you make an appt and that’s made a big difference in receiving steroid scripts remotely.

I overload on vitamin c when I get into it. It doesn't always cause the rash to go away overnight, but it does stop the itching. I take 1000mgs every 4-5 hours.
