CMT is nothing more than a redneck MTV anyway.....has been since Day 1......so this shouldn't be shocking to anyone. It was literally created to be MTV but based in country music instead of pop/rock/hip-hop.
I thought CMT was great in the 80's. It just played videos until TNN went off the rails with the regular sitcom stuff rather than videos and shows like the Ralph Emory stuff.
Problem is I only knew a couple people that had massive satellite dishes. I think that was the only way for rural folks to get CMT back then unless we were on vacation.
I don't remember when it changed to trash but it seems like maybe it started around the mid-90s.
