PCP, I don't figure it will do much good on keeping the sicklepod from coming up, but maybe it will keep some of it out. We have a rope wick, so I will be using it on the sicklepod once it gets taller than the beans.
Your plan on the johnson grass is good. If you try it again next year you might want to go with soybeans so you can spray it more times. Corn gets tall quick enough that I have trouble getting good weed control in it without knocking it over with the sprayer booms.
