Congrats Shiloh! I had my safety off 4 times with him drumming less than 50 yards on multiple setups...only to end up spooking them at the end of a point as they were down in the bottom...should’ve done what I thought to do in circle and get in the bottom from the other side but decided to go peak over the edge 😂 tip my hat as he won today

Thanks fella's. That's my new pb ! 20# 1 oz 1 1/4 "spurs and an 11" beard
It was an awesome hunt...short and sweet. Had a 3/4 mile haul this morning before day light to listen from a new ridge trying to find new turkeys . Heard one at first light in another zip code. Started making my way back to the gate because I didn't have long to hunt. Omw back I faintly heard a gobble that sounded like it was beside my truck! Got to within 250 yards from my truck and sat down a yelped one time and heard 3 gobbles within 100 yards! They came in and hung up at about 60 yards. One had a big white head and spit and strutted his butt off.
After a couple minutes he got to 47 steps and and they where losing intrest so I shot em. Bag flop. Got the perma grin... thankya lord!

I agree this morning was active. I was a caller this morning (no gun), but I heard a lot of gobbling and called in two hens and 5 jakes. A sixth bird was not able to be positively identified. He came in with the 5 jakes, but was hanging back. I also witnessed him gobble, but we could never identify whether he had a beard and never strut. To make us both feel better, I'm calling it a jake.

Well that's crazy.... I've been hearing anywhere from 3 to 10 birds EVERY morning for the past week and half on Choccolocco, this morning was absolutely stone dead silence. I did wind up driving all the way across the WMA and getting one to gobble once, and to my better sense I dove off down the mountain after him. That was the only time he gobbled, so my dumbarse got to cliff climb back to the truck.

We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

That reminds me of my very 1st turkey. It was a jake with a 4 inch beard. He came in with 3 others and i shot the closest one. After I calmed down and all congrats we’re over, the Old Timer that called him in asked me “Why didn’t you wait and shoot the longbeard behind the jakes?” I was so hyper-focused on the jakes that I never even saw the mature bird bringing up the rear.
