I’ve gone with friends who offered to call and guide me but we just never could get lucky enough. Last July I put a chufa plot at my lease and it’s paid off big time. Fellow lease member killed one on opening day and then this gobbler I killed shows up on camera on Monday. I went Friday afternoon and saw 12 turkeys on the chufa plot but no gobbler. He showed up Saturday morning while I was at my son’s soccer game. We had a church Easter egg hunt and I came home to change clothes and head up there. I sat for about an hour and then called a few times. I saw some movement about 150 yards away and then saw him strutting. Took about 40 minutes for him to come into range. He gobbled one time at about 40 yards out. I had my gun pointed down the road and decided on a piece of brush to take my kill shot. He kept coming and ended up in the kill zone and I smoked him with the 870.
