Checking in here. Been a rough past 3 mornings. Finally had some gobble close on the roost this morning but never said a peep when they hit the ground. One is a bird I fooled with last year so hopefully his days are numbered

Congrats to those who have scored!

Team names.........Gobble Stoppers, Pecker Wreckers, Snood Stompers, Triple Toe Assassins, Wattle Whackers, Feather Dusters, or a personal favorite of mine......All Clucked Up.

Been a rough start for me, heard a single gobble in 3 days. Called up plenty of hens though....apparently I sound like an old bitty that wants to peck around and gossip instead of a hot young slut who wants to get her freak on. I'll work on that.

Looks like three votes for it, so I posted up "All Clucked Up" as our team name.

Weeeellll, Saturday morning it went "almost" as I planned it. North Bama opening day morning, on a spot near Haleyville. Its been storming.......now its overcast, foggy and breezy. But what the heck, can't kill 'em sitting on the sofa, right? Make the 1.5 hours drive and slip in quietly in the dark, set up on the edge of a field that is on the border of mature pines and some hardwoods. Let it get light (as much as it can with the overcast), make some light cuts on the slate. It quiet for 10 minutes, then I hear a gobble. Far off but he's there. I respond, some light clucks. 20 minuets later, he's closed the distance and gobbles at 100 yds or so. I respond, few light clucks again. Gun up, safety off, ready. And 5 minutes later he gobbles again....he hasn't budged. Rut-ro! I get a bit aggressive on the call, some sharp cuts. Hope he gets curious and comes on in. Negatory! I see him and his 4 buddies skirting around the edge of the ridge up in the hardwoods at 80 yards or so. Group of longbeards still together this late seems a bit odd, but there they were. Oh well....I'll be back.
