What is a good choice for a bow with a 60lb Draw?

laugh 100 grain Thunderheads, for the money, are never going to be replaced by any other head IMO. I shot 7 with 100 grain Montecs this season. They are a little more pricey, but they are a one-piece solid construction steel head that can easily be resharpened without buying replacement blades. I killed the first 4 deer with the same head. Now that I have told you the products I like I will go back to my original statement....Any fixed blade with sharp heads.

Thanks Matt, I have a new bow and had to have the draw alot lighter than in the past in order to bow hunt and was wondering if I needed to go with a different broadhead. I used Muzzy 100gr in the past.

What ever shoots the best out of your bow and with your arrow. It all comes down to sharp and behind the shoulder. I see to many people put on what they want and then it flies horrible and wonder why they miss

I have shot Rages and love them but you can't go wrong with a Muzzy or a SlickTrick. I think I like the ST's better. Good luck!

Without a doubt (IMO) the Muzzy will give you great cut-on-demand with manageable arrow effects. Now I am a fan of many broadheads, but I recently given the Rage a try and I am very impressed. They fly practically like a Field point with the end result looking like a 2" wide sword was used to slice a hole in the deer. You won't get as many pass throughs with a rage, but the entrance hole will bleed a deer out in no time.

A great resource to build your own opinion is YouTube. Look up broadhead comparisons and you'll see different broadheads used in some extreme ways to compare them.

Montecs can be sharpened with a flat whetstone.

I'm sorry I never came back to visit this thread. I missed your question T-town. I have the G5 diamond stone and it has worked great. I resharpen my Thunderhead blades on it as well. I've put an edge on some of them that makes them hard to handle safely. laugh

A guy I know lost a really good one this past weekend to a Rage, he hit a little forward and hit shoulder. He's shooting 80lbs and 320 fps. A fixed blade and he'd had a really goodun on the wall.

Anyone shooting is just one shot away from a disappointment and a lost deer. All you have to do is scan the bowhunting forums to find multiple hunters crying about lost deer. Yes,
on a perfect shot they will ope a deer up.
How many of us make perfect shots everytime when a wild animal and mother nature can also affect the outcome ?
