This is always a tricky question when I am approached with my recommendations. I am not a die-hard (insert bow brand here) kind of person. Each bow brand has their advantages and short fallings, some more than others. I will say that there are some key differences between brands and models but there is one key question you have to ask yourself - "How much do I want to spend?"
There are bows out there that are worth the hefty price tag, and then there are some bows that don't have the price tag but a great value.
Another key question is the available support for that type of bow. Some of these new "beyond parallel" bows will require special presses that not every shop has upgraded to yet.
For myself, I love the speed and accuracy of a Mathews. I like the strength and dependability of a Hoyt. Bowtech (also Diamond - cheaper alternative but still a Bowtech product) have great all around bows with some interesting technology behind it. PSE is making a nice jump into the higher end market with the x-force series. Then you have the smaller, but great bows like Pearson and high Country just to name a few.
This is an important factor to any bow purchase decision. Shoot what your comfortable with!
All the major brands will land you a deer, just look for the features and specs that fit what you want in a bow.
I personally shoot the Mathews Reezen 6.5 and I LOVE this bow. I will say that after setting up a lot of new bows for people and shooting them to get them tuned in. I think if I had to purchase a new bow now, I'd go with the Diamond Iceman.
