A deputy pulled me over a short while ago. I was in an old truck I'm tinkering on. I was following my wife home and we were crossing a 4 lane and turning left on a four lane road. He said I wasn't supposed to pull into the far lane, that it was an illegal turn. So be it, write me a ticket.
Anyway that's not the issue. When he turned his lights on I could see a signal light and dollar general ahead. Visiblity was bad, it was raining, and there was a hill I didn't think it was wise to pull over in the rain on 431 so I very slowly drove to the dollar general. Maybe a quarter mile I know less than a half anyway Parked the truck, I opened the door because the power window may or may not work. He started chewing me up and down because I didn't pull over immediately, and I opened my door instead of rolling down the window. I just took it like man. At one point he said I could have gotten shot. I never made one threatening action to him.
Any way if you don't feel comfortable can you slowly drive to somewhere you do? If your window doesn't work, is it wrong to open the door?
It really pissed me off that he acted that way. I may call the sheriff and tell him the a$$hole wasn't even wearing a mask. đ

I believe I would have to make an appointment with the sheriff for a face to face. Not to get out of a ticket but to discuss the whole âyou could have got shotâ comment.

You're a liar. Everyone knows that only happens to black folks.

After he got off his power trip, Iâd explain the situation and reasoning behind the actions you took. May or may not work. Or, just show him your cc permit when you hand him your license and insurance.

My pet peeve is idiots taken care of tickets and crap when they could have driven a little further and got out of the way. Is it a law??? I ain't showing my cc permit, it's non of his dam business imo.

I agree. You were looking out for âhis safetyâ, and he chose to respond that you were the bad guy. FWIW Iâve noticed the cops are appreciative when Iâve shown my cc.

State Trooper told me to drive till you get to a safe place to pull off .
"Why do you ask"?
Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.

While driving? Doesn't seem like the right thing to do to me. You need to stay the he!! Off the cell phone.

I as a retired traffic commander will say file a complaint, due to his action's it should be on video. Also ask for a copy of the incident video, it's public record. I would request a meeting with the Sheriff or Chief Deputy, so that he could show you a video of the incident. I as a supervisor held my officers at a much higher standard than most. Poor action's are just a pattern of what has taken place. We are in a new era of law enforcement. Also if you are turning onto a 4 lane, and both lanes are clear, who cares what lane you take, as long as it isn't the wrong way on the one way. sorry for the long rant, I do not like aggressive officers, they tend to screw themselves over time.

You can turn on your hazard lights and that will indicate to him that you acknowledge him but are getting to a more lighted or safer location. Still no excuse for him being a jerk wad.

Well I failed my first driving test for doing that is the rule. As far as getting out of your car, he doesnât know you or what your up to, maybe he could have been polite but I did that once in a bad neighborhood in Bâham and the dude took a defensive posture behind his open door gun drawn and yelled at me to get in my car. (I was 16 and didnât know better). After some thought I understood why.

Or stop immediately in the traffic lane and donât pull over. Wait on him to come on the speaker and tell you to move. đ
