Never met a 70 year old with dementia so bad that he would just roll up on a three fellas minding their own business and murder them for no reason because he didn't know what he was doing. There should be some legit medical history there is that were the actual situation.
And the story isn't adding up.
I am guessing there was an altercation, When an old man pulls his irons chances are he ain't bluffing. Young fellas take note.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Does seem odd. He had dementia so bad that he killed two people out of the blue but was able to get up, pack his stuff, launch his boat and find the blind?

Sounds like the suspect had dementia. And a rem 11-87 I got one. Parents got it for me for a Christmas present 38 yrs ago. It goes bang everytime you pull the trigger and always has. Now I've got shotguns with a whole lot smoother actions that I shoot a lot more than the 11-87. I use the 11-87 as a beater gun but I dont ever remember having it jam. Killed a pile of deer in front of dogs, with it growing up. I wish I had a dollar for every hog I've rolled with that gun shooting buckshot. I could probably buy a brand new A5 or SBEII.

LOL I never saw anything stating that the duck blind boys got off a shot at the old man, which also raises questions. Back before the flood and boating accident, I had quite a few shotguns of other makes. Lost them all when the boat capsized. Was a sad day (2) Belguim A5s, Berreta 391, (2) Browning Golds, Browning Silver, Rem 1100, Francii Affinity. Just saying I've treated that 11-87 like a boat paddle for the past almost 40 years and it still shoots every pull.

There's definitely A LOT of old men that are scumbags. I have no idea what happened, honestly haven't even read all the reports. Could be anyone fault, but he doesn't get a pass for being old. If it's a dementia issue, I hate it for everyone involved. It can be a very tough time.

And getting the jump on a 3:1 shootout is easy if the 3 don't know the 1 is planning to shoot. As to the dementia angle, my grandmother in her later days could go from "sweet as banana pudding" to yelling at my grandpa that she was going to kill him when he went to sleep... with zero provocation. It was worse when she was tired. For a man who reportedly hunted every day of duck season, I imagine he was wore out pretty well. Could be a contributing factor. The fact that his family isn't speaking out right now says more to me than anything else.

Was the old man Crabtree's uncle? I'll tell yall a true story. Bout 20 or maybe even 30yrs ago there were two men in their mid 20s, childhood friends that went duck hunting on I believe it was Seminole, or may have been Miccosukee, over near Tallahassee. Real foggy and they supposedly got seperated. Once the fog burned off Hunter #1 made his way back to the launch. Hunter #2 never showed and was reported missing. Massive massive search. HIs boat was found but no Hunter #2. Search continues, couple weeks later search is still on-going and hunter #2's boonie hat was found in an area almost a mile from where the boat was found. Search eventually called off. No body, no nothing for over a year. Widow of Hunter #2 files for death certificate and claims insurance money on Hunter 2's death. GW and investigating officer cannot believe no body ever found. Relatively shallow water 6-10ft across whole area where they were. Investigator has a hunch and waits a couple years and starts surveilence on Widow and Hunter #1. Low and behold, they are now a couple. Long story short. Once investigation was complete and the truth came out: Hunter #1 was banging Hunter #2's wife 4-5 times a week. Started 2-3 years earlier with a long running threesome between Hunter 1, his wife and Hunter 2's wife that started on a trip to PCB. Hunter 1 decided he liked Hunter 2s wife way better than his own, so Hunter 2 had to go. They met up at the lake, loaded both boats and went out. Hunter 2 got in the boat with Hunter 1 to set decoys. Hunter 1 positioned the boat in 8-10 ft of water and once Hunter 2 had his waders on, he pushed him in, thinking he'd drown. He managed to fight his way free from the waders and surfaced trying to get back into the boat, leaving Hunter 1 with no choice but to shoot his friend in the face. Drug the body with a rope back to the secluded launch, loaded him up in bed of truck and hid the body about 20 miles away in a field. Scorned wife of Hunter 1 was the key. She turned on both Hunter 1 and the widow once she was pushed out of the group thing and told it all. Same age, at the time this occured, as these guys that are involved here. Moral of story is that things didnt always happen as reported by lone witnesses. Maybe it was just a demented old man but like I said, something just doesnt smell right bout the whole story and the way it all supposedly went down. Especially now that there are others in the town saying the lone survivor of the incident is lying. Might not ever know the truth. Dang, so the TBI thinks the old guy was shacking up with the two dead guys wifes and the survivor. In this day and age, I wouldn’t doubt it.

There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

I have no idea what happened in this case and won't even play like I do. But I have had to deal with patients with all kinds of mental disorders in my work. You would be amazed at how bizarre and weird some of the specific cases were. I took care of an older lady once that during daylight hours was perfectly alert, oriented and just the most preciously sweet little old lady you have ever met. About an hour after sundown she would try to gouge your eyeballs out with whatever she could get her hands on. Completely out of her mind. Clawed the hide off my forearm like she was a bear one night. Next day she would be back perfectly normal and have no memory of trying to kill all of us the night before. Weirdest case of sundowners I ever saw. I had a next door neightbor once that went nuts. She thought I was trying to kill her by breaking into her house and putting poison in her food. She thought the people who lived on the other side of her had a hyena in their dog pen. She also believed all manner of other strange nonsense. She called the cops to report these things multiple times a week. She still drove a car, had a job, and did all the everyday tasks like grocery shopping and mowing the lawn that we all do. And yet she was at the same time blisteringly insane. Came over into my yard twice with a gun. Thankfully she is not my neighbor anymore but that woman could have easily killed someone despite maintaining a part of her life that seemed normal. The mind is a strange and mysterious thing sometimes. I have no idea if the older guy in this case had demetia or not but the fact that he could still do things like dress, pack his stuff and launch a boat doesn't disprove the presence of a mental problem. Trust me!
