Maybe an isolated incident. But my gut tells me there are a lot of older males who are pissed with the world since the stolen elections and they have a short fuse right now.

not really such an isolated incident. Reelfoot is known for some craziness. Some blinds public, some blinds private. The two don't mix. Used to hunt up there some, but no more. Heard stories and witnessed to much stupidity on the water. This case, the old man is apparently known to cause lots of trouble. I pray the third young man, who it is reported was also shot, is ok.

How do you have a private blind on public water? Grandfathered? Self claimed? First duck hunt i ever went on was a guided trip on reelfoot the year bama lost to louisville in the bowl game 90 or 91 maybe? It was interesting for a first timer. And the blind was like a permanent fixture.

Used to only apply on the 1st hunt of the season. On opening morning, if you didn't build the blind you let it be. After opening morning, it was 1st come gets it and it used to never be a problem. The "Duck Dynasty" era, basically tossed all of the unwritten rules of duck hunting and said piss on everyone. It's been a complete and total schit show ever since.

On a side note, courtesy is just completely gone now when it comes to hunting/fishing or any kind of public outdoor activity. There is no respect left

There are still a lot of grandfathered private blinds on the lake. The twra changed the rules now though, so after this generation dies off, I think they go back into public hands. Very controversial.

The circus up there is legendary.

Hunted the lake for years. Unfortunately, this doesn’t surprise me. Too many blinds way too close, some with idiots hunting them.

Got a blind on the lake that has been in the family for over 100 years. Know the blinds in question and people involved.

I'm pretty shocked this went down and hope this doesn't lead to increased blind confiscation efforts by the State of Tennessee.

They made duck hunting cool. I bet the number of "people trying to hunt ducks" (notice I intentionally and very specifically did not say "duck hunters") increased by probably 30-40% when that show was on the air.

That's all my 2 sons hunt. Can't afford a private hole...if one were available. Here at swan creek and in arky. Scares the bejeezus outta me sometimes. Especially when they're 5hrs away with little to no cell service.

I’ve never duck hunted on public land or on a river but are you saying there are privately owned blinds on public land and the owners expect them to be reserved for their use only? How does that work. Wouldn’t that be like leaving a shooting house on a WMA or National Forest and expecting nobody else to hunt it?
