Hunted Reelfoot many years ago. Blind was a concrete bunker with theater seats and a kitchen and gas heat. Sitting cozy and eating fried baloney sammiches. Tens of thousands of geese. It was so freaking cold up there, you got iced up riding to blinds in the lake

Terrible thing. Unfortunately, I can understand how you get that mad. I’ve been in situations where I’ve been pretty damn livid. It’s similar to road rage. Part of the reason I quit duck hunting. With all the duck dynasty morons, I stayed mad all the time.

I love the area and have friends there. Locals are a bunch of outlaws. Not the first time this has happened. I’m sure there are bodies in those cypress flats that’ll never be found. They don’t trust outsiders. “River Law” if you will.
Big Lake and St Francis Sunken Lands both used to be the same way.

We had a good private spot and outlaws were on it all the time cause it butted up against a WMA. They could ride their boat in and walk into it. I caught several. Farmer told me everytime I caught them I should hold them at gunpoint. Told him I wasn't killing a man over a duck but I sure would tell him to sit still cause I might.

Total supposition but I’m guessing that an argument ensued and the two young guys probably told the 70 yr old local they’d just whoop his azz and the 70 yr old said bang, bang, I don’t think so. Don’t ever mess with old people. Like my FIL used to say, “I’m too old to screw around and fight with you anymore. I’ll just pull out my pocket rocket and end this quick “

The “alleged” shooter is bat$hit crazy and has been causing problems all year. 2. There were 3 individuals in the blind where the shooting took place, the third guy is still alive, don’t know if he was shot or not. If what the poster stated about the witness’ statement is accurate, the young men were retreating toward the bank when they were shot and killed. With all the duck dynasty morons, I stayed mad all the time. This is the exact reason I quit duck hunting. It was hard enough to duck hunt in Bama as it is. Then a new show came out and then everybody wanted to go buy all of their drake pull overs and calls the go set up 50yds next to somebody else and shoot at everything that flew by. I might would go on an out of state hunt somewhere but I’ll never plan a whole season for ducks here in Bama. I hate it bad for the 2 young guys and the families. Senseless murder.

Sadly I’m not surprised.
I’ve been threatened a few times on the River by a boatload of young punks because I was in their spot. Koger Island I pulled my 45 on a boatload of 3 that was flapping their gums about taking their spot back.
Had it happen in Arkansas long before Duck Dynasty. We were in their hole. This was right after the Cache and White rivers became federal refuges.
I quit going to Arkansas in the mid to late 90s because of the mayhem.
Prayers for those involved. It really has gotten ridiculous and an indication of society in general, not just duck hunters.
