College programs are just play toys for wealthy boosters.
. Sporting events are starting to get for the wealthy or those willing to shell out large amounts for a seat. Yes, you can find some less expensive seats, but in general, you have to pay to play. It doesn't matter if it is the pros or the colleges, money is what makes it go. How much did Auburn shell out for that new arena a few years ago? How much has Bama spent upgrading amenities for the players and redoing Bryant Denny? Wealthy billionaire owners want the cities gov., state gov., and local populations to foot the bill for their new stadiums. Exxon, Chevron, BP are going to make a lot more than the mom and pop service station. Walmart makes billions while the local folks are closing shop, why, people are going to Wally World, Sams, Costco for better deals. If Auburn, TN, SC, Ole Miss, etc. do not put a quality component on the field, people will go elsewhere. Don't believe me, how many 5 stars did Bama sign and how many did Auburn, Ole Miss, and TN sign?
