Copied from Archerytalk. What would you do ? This really happened to a hunter from Illinois. Someone tagged YOUR Dead Deer?? What say you?? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got home from Jim Edgar this past weekend and I had a dream hunt that turned into a nightmare. I managed to shoot and kill the biggest buck of my life on saturday morning at 6:38 am. I had seen this Giant on thursday night and was hunting him for the next 2 days. Well... he managed to come strolling by at 15 yards and I put a single lung and liver hit on him! I have alot more detials but just wanted to see what you all would have done!!!!! This deer was a Super Super tall rack and Thick and Massive all the way to the tips! He was either a 12 or 15 pointer with a cool 3inch kicker off his G2! This buck will score between 165 and 175 I would guess! He was a giant racked buck! A really nice guy from Michigan managed to tag and drag my buck out of the woods before I got to him. Sad part was the deer only ran a total of 90 yards and died but he when up a huge hill and out of sight, so I gave him time to expire before I pushed him as I wasnt sure of the lung hit, but I knew I had a liver hit for sure! So I confront the guy and his 2 buddies and they inform me he hit the buck the night before and founded him right where my blood trail lead to the nice gut pile they left me behind. Like I said there is more details to this to prove my case... just wanted to see who would have been sitting in the county jail for the weekend.... or what you guys would have done! I was at a lose and didnt know what the heck to do!!!! __________________ N.O.A.H. Pro-Staff

call the game warden or sheriff. show them the arrow, the blood trail, the gut pile, the drag marks. The law SHOULD be on your side.........if not i keep a 9MM in my truck

There was an ass whipping in Jackson County a few years ago over a lot less a deer than that.

I bet he will have a heck of a load on his shoulders over the years telling his family and friends his made up story of how he killed it. I bet the story gets better and better every year. Rest assured he will have an empty void in his gut for the rest of his life knowing that he stole that deer that stares at him while he is in the confort of his own home.

i here that alot about people steeling deer in that state, why would someone want to claim some other person deer

Rest assured he will have an empty void in his gut for the rest of his life knowing that he stole that deer that stares at him while he is in the confort of his own home. I'd like to believe that but it's been my experience that low lifes like that do what they do and laugh about it later rather than feel bad. If they had a conscience that would bother them sometime down the road then they probably wouldn't do crap like this in the first place. And I would probably have been in jail if that happened to me. But it wouldn't be hard to pick out the one pressing charges on my ass at the trial. LOL!

I believe there is a little more to the story than has been portrayed on AT.....such as the other guy's story

There is no law about a deer or whose it is.
How could a police officer determine who killed this buck?
Stupid people do stupid things. Pulling a gun on someone or threatening someone with a gun about a deer is stupid, too. That's like saying you'd shoot someone for shooting a dog. A dog's life is worth more than spending part of your life in jail? That's insane.
Having a discussion about this buck in the woods might be a different story, though.
These guys don't care about lying about this deer. If they're low-life enough to steal someone else's deer they're not too concerned about telling lies to people about how they got it.

Wrong Clem,in the state where this happened the law states that the deer belongs to the person that delivers the lethal blow or shot. It would come down to the hunter that could prove they killed the deer. The guy that took the deer claimed to have shot it the day before.The kid they took it from had a pass thru with the deers blood. It could be proven or disproved. Either way there would be a clear winner and loser.

Shoulda called the law or GWs or both.
Amazing they have a law about claiming a deer. Of all the things going wrong in this country ...
