Hunting a small grove of white oaks Friday afternoon and had a 130 class 9 pt come in and work a rub. Took a broadside shot at 2 yards and he took off!!! Found blood and puddles the size of dinner plates with some bubbles in it. Tracked him for 2 hours that night-about 150 yds then came back Sat morning and looked for 3 1/2 more hours finding good blood for over 500 yards. Had it on his shoulder...shooting 55 lb bow with 2" rage broadheads. Did not get pass thru as blood is only on side shot was. We found several areas about 10-12" in diameter of blood (they were about every 20 yards) and drops. The sign was high on brush and trees, so Iam thinking high shoulder with only one lung. No gut shot and with blood that high, can't be a let hit...I mean the blood sign was as high as my waist (I am 5'9"). Question is...do you think he is dead or will he survive? I found a spot where he stopped at creek and was drinking b/c there was blood in about a 2 ft circle there.

I think you pushed him too much.
If you had backed out and waited until the morning, he probably would have laid down nearby.
Easy to make that call from my chair, a lot harder to make it when it's your deer and you're finding good blood sign.
He'll most likely die, especially if you got one lung.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

OB is dead on.You pushed him.I've done it and lost bucks too.He's probably dead.do you have access to a dog that tracks.A dog will find him quick.He may be laying in a creek somewhere.

Like perchjerker said Get a tracking dog and put him on it. There was a thread on here a few days ago with some guys offering their tracking dog services.

i know the feeling my first buck i ever shot was a nice one and i did the same thing got down to soon and pushed a deer with a less than adequate shot. i to this day have not had as nice a deer as that one come by me. and i learned and will never make the same mistake twice.
hope you can find him.
