Well I found mine this morning from the call last night I wish I had some great tale to tell but the total track was 20 yards.
The hit sight was marked where he thought the deer was and not where the deer was so we started about 50 yds before where the deer was actually shot.after walking the dog around in the woods for a bit I went back to to the area of the shot and that's when I found the hair and blood and deer
Pro tip:land mark the shot before you cut it loose it helps everybody involved

Mike used to post on here but I don't think he's been on here in a couple years. He has some great dogs....Last I heard he lived in GA now

I haven't seen Mike around Aldeer in a couple years also. Used to really enjoy his posts. He'd normally pop in around now, find a bunch of deer, do it for donations and ruffle the feathers of some local trackers.

We didnt recover the second one......Ruby tracked well to him and jumped him but we couldn't get him to bay up. We were in a swamp and he eventually hit the property line where we called it off.

This is from the first call.......

IdahoMike says he is planning to head to central Al within the next week or so. Lucy recently found her 700th deer and he is looking forward to keep on putting deer on the tailgate.

Thanks CNC. This deer took mike & his dogs on a marathon, bayed several times before Mike could finally get a shot. At the end, the deer made a loop & fell less than 100yds from where it was first shot.

Few years ago, IdahoMike and Lucy found a buck for a buddy of mine at our club in Chilton county. My buddy had made a marginal hit on the deer. The buck exited the green field with a spotty but trackable blood trail. We tracked the deer for quite a ways but the blood trail became less and less, and eventually disappeared. From the blood trail, we knew the buck was headed for a two/three year old clear cut that was super thick. IdahoMike and Lucy recovered that buck, and without them it would have never been found.

Chased a monster around belfont nuclear plant this morning. Was a back whack but figured we'd try anyway. Jumped the deer around 1 mile in. Dogs chased him till I lost GPS signal. Finally got close enough to get a signal and call them off. That is one impressive piece of property

Drove 1 1/2 hours up towards pisgah this morning to help a young man out. Bayed him at 2.4 once then finished him over just a hair under 3 miles. Brisket shot

Recovered two live ones today. One in Oneonta and one 5 minutes from my house. Chased one in Newmarket a little over 4 miles. The dogs bayed him twice and we ended up watching him run across a field on some property we didn't have permission to be on. Then we waded two creeks and hitch hiked back to our trucks. Dang sure fixing to sleep good tonight

Had a call lil after dinner on one shot this morning. Hunter tracked blood for about 200 yds saw the deer still on his feet and tried to get a shot on him and missed, said he looked hurt but backed out and gave me a call. Me and rooster loaded up and headed out and I usually normally like to start at the hit sight but I took him at his word and started sorta in the middle of the track about where he shot at the deer the second time.we find a lil blood and one wound bed and keep working ahead and get to a property line. My hunter is working getting on getting us permission cause the dog is dead set on us going over there and won't take no for a answer. We finally get the go ahead and cross and go a lil ways and start making a loop back onto there land and get down in a creek bottom. I'm not seeing no blood and I'm thinking this one maybe fixing to get away from us and I look up and there he lays with his head up. The deer is sick but alive so I back rooster off and ease up and pop him with my pistol and that's that. Total track was close to 600 counting what he tracked we went 300 with the dog to the bay 4 hours after the initial shot. Deer was shot in right ham with a 6.5 no exit

Gonna give one a try tomorrow morning that was shot yesterday afternoon......They've been in there today looking for it with another dog already with no luck.....Found a decent amount of bone originally and some wet blood at 2:00 this afternoon......From the sounds of everything the hunter has told me I think it may be hit in the back leg.....Gonna be a tough one and a bit of a long shot but we're gonna give it a try......If he'll just stay put in an area and not get too far off we might get lucky
