I don’t take my time to make pretty pics. Like I said in the past I get just as excited over an old doe as I do a buck. I have only mounted 2 deer in my life. I have euro mounts, but mostly just horns here and there. He was 10 yards from where he was fanning his tail. I should have know when I seen that, he was fixing to die, but I second guessed my self. Anyway about 80 yard recovery and got lucky to get that Grim-reaper through that part of the shoulder. About 8” deep and snapped the arrow off. Glad to have got to share my story with you guys. Thanks. Congrats. I have hard enough of a time even seeing a deer on public land most of the time. Can’t imagine to work to be able to tag one of those guys.

Congrats JD! Great buck anytime, but especially on public land with a bow!
Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

I’m on Black Warrior WMA today. I’m in 15 year old pines that is full of honeysuckles and beds. These pines have been thinned which allows the green to grow. I waited till daylight to walk in and run some deer off that beat me here. They never did snort, so I should be good. Deer have been moving 8-10:30am. Afternoons have been just down right tuff. My thermals are rising this morning and I’m as high as you can get for this area. If I didn’t have this ole beat up Tacoma I wouldn’t be able to reach these places that most people won’t drive their truck, or their truck is to big. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/Fwf0BjY.jpg) Now you in it..honeysuckle and beds those deer are laying nearby and getting something to eat when their bellies get empty. Should be another buck nearby. Congrats, enjoy your downtime, and go get another one!
