Well as I play on Aldeer I had a buck at 35 yards and closing in fast. I got stood up and prepared to shoot him at 30 yards broadsided. All I need him to do when he finishes working on that tree is take 2 more steps. Well wouldn’t you know it, I was at full draw and he turns straight at me and walked to ten yard quartering towards me and bam he looks up at me. I had been holding back for 15 seconds and I said it’s now or never. I hit the back side of his shoulder and it sounded like a .22 going off. If I shot two more inches to the left i would have found him within 150 yards. I’m so mad at my self. Anyway he ran off carrying the arrow 20 yards before snapping it against a tree. He started walking at about 55 yards and walked 5 yards limping and stopped. When he ran off his tail was tucked and when he was standing still at 60 he was fanning his tail. Fanning of the tail got me a little excited, but I couldn’t tell if he bedded or walked on off. So here I sit pissed at my self. I’m not getting down till I give him time. My game plan is to get down at 10 and drive ten miles to camp and come back at 1pm. Oh yeah he is a nice Bankhead buck. Very nice!
