I got a much cheaper crossbow than what your budget is - but I Lov my Barnett. You should be able to get really nice one with that budget

$2k will get you everything you ever need in a crossbow for hunting, and then some.
I saved my fun money for a long.....long time and bought the Ten Point RS 470, and shot a 6" group at 90 yards this morning.
If I could figure out how to post pictures on here I'd show y'all.
Can't go wrong with Ten Point. Reverse draw is a good feature for extra speed with ought extra weight or bulk. The accudraw system is really nice as well.

Tenpoint, Ravin or Excalibur. I'm a fan of Tenpoint personally, I like the company and warranty. Ravin are also fine, just not my cup of tea, many are happy with them though. Excalibut are probably the simplest and need the least maintenance but only offered in traditional limb design. check them all out, shoot them if you can ( many shops will let you demo one) and buy the one you like best.

One more thing...from experience, buy the highest quality equipment you can afford. I've never regretted spending more money for better quality, but I've often regretted buying equipment that was "pretty much" what I needed, or "good enough to get me by" when it comes to something like scopes, bows, arrows, or guns. If that means I need to wait a little to buy, it's worth considering.

I own a Wicked Ridge and Horton reverse limb xbows. If had 1-2K today to spend on a xbow I would be looking at the Ravin

Ravin for sure. Hunting buddy has one and they are prob the nicest piece of equip i have seen. Great performance even to long distance, easy to carry, no downside i have seen.
It is what it is.
Inspect what you Expect.
Hunting TN, AL, KY, and IL.

I bought a Tenpoint Stealth NXT in August. I LOVE it. I recently saw it on sale for $899. I can't imagine there being a better deal out there
