This story is why I chuckle when folks say a “magnum” puts me down faster. Nowadays I shoot most of them with a 6mm creedmoor (243s pretty twin sister) 90 gr ballistic tip and they don’t make it 40 yards. IMO, a deer doesn't know the difference between a 6 creed or a 300 wisbang super magnum.
