Sure can tell you were in the Navy. Chiggers don't play. I went to a three week Infantry course at Camp Robinson Arkansas in July. I warned the yankees about chiggers. Thought I was kidding them. After five days straight in the woods I had three chigger bites. One fourth of the class had to go on sick call. All yankees, all destroyed by chiggers. Several were out for three days. benadryl and other suggestions are good advice. Best is not to get them to begin with. They are a main reason I don't hunt until it gets and stays cold.

Don’t mess with trees that are full of moss, they love that stuff strange part is my wife was helping me cut and move limbs, we were in pretty much the same area for several hours at the same time, she got nothing. but I guess I'm convinced theyre chiggers now. what do they normally live on when they're not gnawing on me?

I use the highest % of deet I can find. after showering and drying off I will step back into the shower and spray real good. Especially behind the knees and around my junk. They seem to have an affinity for warm moist places. Let it dry for a minute then after dressing Ill spray my boots and lower pants. rarely do I get them and they are BAD in Sumter county.
