I can find the hourly discharge but where's some info that will help me relate that to the number of gates open? Thought about going in the morning.

That's the dam store, where you stop to get dam bait. I say that out loud every time I drive by there.

The first time my wife allowed me to take our son fishing without her, he couldn't wait to get back home and tell her how many dam fish we caught. Then he had to call both Grand Mothers!

I just look at the TVA site. I can get pretty close just by looking at the release. I see Wednesday they may start slowing down. Hopefully by Saturday, it will be under 50 again. I'm down to my last three frozen skipjack. My goal this winter is to buy a castnet and learn how to throw it without snagging the trolling motor, or fishing gear, or the front Helix, etc.

They are doing there Winter draw down. I haven't been to the dam lately but they are biting pretty good on the lower end of the lake. Dragging baits on the channel ledges is still the most productive right now. Will be fishing Wilson this weekend to see if I can pattern some fish for our tournament next weekend. Still seeing skips caught below Wheeler Dam but probably won't stay up there too much longer.

You understand the release schedule is referring to the turbines right? Has nothing to do with the floodgates, which let out much more water.

No, I did not. I thought it was the release of all water. Damn transplanted Texans.

Calling Cooley’s as mentioned or anyone else that can/will get a visual is about the only way. The TVA app or the hotline (800-238-2264) is only gonna tell you the dam is spilling until further notice. That could mean 1 floodgate partially open or all of them wide open.

The release schedule is for ALL water that is coming through the dam. Flood gates included. The turbines can only produce around 46k cfs at full generation. Anything above that means that water is spilling. There is no way of knowing how many gates are open without seeing them. I have a buddy that works there and lets us know how many are open when we want to know.
