Mcmillian stocks . I know they are week thought off and must be good. My question is are they worth the money?

I have had one on a Winchester model 70 7MM rem mag for 28 years. I am not sure what you are wanting to pay, but if i was buying a stock i would certainly buy another Mcmillian. No question about it, I have put mine through hell and back.

Not at all worth the money for me. I’d take a B&C stock over a McMillan any day.

I was a bigger fan of the McM’s a couple hundred dollars ago BUT the wait time is what cost them my business. Last stock I ordered was 7 months for delivery. I lose interest in rifles too quick to wait 7 months for anything. I ordered a AG Composites Privateer (23oz and same profile as Barrett FC) today for one of my Weatherby’s today, they said 2wks for delivery.

They're good stocks, but only you can answer the question you're asking.

If better accuracy over a plastic factory stock is your goal, a B&C, Greyboe, HS Precision or AG composite stock will give you what you need. Some of these may be heavier or bulkier than a Micky, but you won't notice a difference on targets.

Have a Micky on a pre 64 M70 and its a good stock, and is contoured like the old M70 stocks which you can't get from any other stock. My brother has a Micky Remington classic stock and I don't like the fit of that stock. Foreend is too large, and the comb is not scalloped where it meets the wrist and is odd feeling.

I've handled a few other Mickey stocks and if I was looking for a tactical or a lightweight stock I would consider one.

Manners makes a great stock also. I've handled a manners EH3 and I loved it. Best fitting sporter stock I've ever handled. A little odd looking but fit like it was made for me. My next custom build will probably have an EH3.

If you REALLY want to drop some big money on a stock, get a Brown Precision Pounder stock. grin

I’ve never laid hands on the EH3 but that’s a good looking stock. Specs on it look good too.

They aren’t worth my money. I have bought a dozen or so stocks and never could reach deep enough in the wallet to buy one. Usually end up with a B&C.

Lots of good stocks out there. AG, McMillan, Grayboe, Manners, HS, B&C.......... All are a vast improvement over the factory crap that comes on most rifles. I own one McMillan, I like it. It's the stock I wanted for this particular rifle. Would I buy another? If McMillan had a stock I felt was right for the rifle I was putting together, yes. Their prices are high and their lead times are crazy because there is big demand for their products.

Guess I should have thrown more info in the original post. I’ve got a Browning X-bolt in 300 wsm with a scratch less perfect wood stock and don’t want to hunt with the stock since I’m so damn rough on them. No one except Mcmillian makes a replacement for it other than Midwest gun works and they only offer replacement factory stocks.

Just a thought, but an extra wood stock wouldn't be bad.

They just don't make much for a Browning. There are reasons for that I won't get into but when you look at all the aftermarket options you won't find any.... as you know at this point. A lot of gun smiths don't work on them.

McMillan is the choice. It will require work to fit, etc. so line it up before you make the purchase.

My concern would be that if it does not shoot well you are stuck with it. Not much you can do. If it shoots well I would probably go with a factory stock in a different flavor if possible.

We have two McMillan stocks. Outstanding stock for any price.

The two we have will not be the last ones that I buy.

One of ours is an A3 that they built for my 4'8" wife with a 10-1/2" LOP. Fits her perfectly.

I swapped out my Sako Finnlight stock for McMillan and have been very happy. McMillan suggested a gunsmith in Indiana and he did a great job! He kept me updated with pics throughout the process.[Linked Image]

That’s a nice looking rifle you got there Cynical. How has that Defiance action treated you?
