Didn’t get shook up till I saw his rack. Shooting house we were in only had one chair and kind of small. I was sitting on the floor and me feet were going to sleep. Told her I needed to stand up for a minute. As I was getting up, I could see him standing in the field but couldn’t see his head. She had passed a smaller doe early and I could just see a big dark body. Told her she would shoot this one. She asked if it was a buck and I said I think so. Was getting the gun out the window when she first saw his antlers and I couldn’t see them still. She said “He’s huge!” A few more steps and I was like OH CRAP HE IS!!! Got her on the gun but she couldn’t find him in the scope. I reached over and turned it down from 6 to 4x. She finally found him and he was walking almost straight towards us. Asked if she was on him. She said yeah. He turned ever so slightly and stopped. Told her to put it just under his neck and squeeze. BANG!! He stumbled and ran maybe 5 yards and hit the ground. Tarsals already turning dark and he been rubbing trees pretty good.
So proud of her! What an amazing day God blessed me with to spend with my beautiful daughter
Season is a success already. Now my son, who turned 16 in September and aged out of youth hunt, is after a 6 point he has seen two years in a row Great job , congratulations

Big doe down at 4:30 for 2 new hunters! She was 125# on the nose, and little man put it right on the point of the shoulder and clipped her heart. She bulldozed across the field but didn’t make it 20yards. Lots of high fives and hollering going on in Bibb county this afternoon! My 2 new hunters are a father and son who have never been deer hunting. the hurricane in Panama City destroyed their home and most everything they had, and they moved here about a year ago. Good folks who have had a rough row to hoe for a while, little man and my son are friends and about a month ago he asked if I could take him hunting. They came up to camp last weekend and we rode around the woods and shot the scoped .22. He did great with it. Congrats to the killers and everyone that got to spend time with your kids! I am blessed that this year my weekend with my son fell on youth weekend and we’re finished with baseball for the year. We saw 10 yesterday and scared the crap out of 2 does but can’t seem to connect. I’m really wondering now if the gun is off. I shot it before season and was dead on at 100. I know he was excited/nervous but that’s not like him to miss. Of course, live targets are much different than punching paper lol
