anybody ever had any real good luck fishing jugs?

what kind of places do you look for and depths to set your jugs?

I do pretty good with them. Fish 2 to 6 ft deep up on the flats adjacent to deep water (just below large sand bars or near intersecting creeks work well). They move up on these flats late in the afternoon to feed. I like a 1/0 J hook and have the best results with cut shad for bait.

We run them bellow Lock 17 on Holt some and have caught some good ones. I rig mine with trotline cord to a 3 way barrel swivel. Then I use mono to tie the hook and weight on leaving the weight line longer than the hook line so if it hits bottom the bait may stay suspended. We use noodles and you can use rubber bands to control the depth. Cut or live shad or bream works best if you can't find Old Taters.

Yeah I slay them up here on jugs. I fish with cut bream or shad 12-15 foot lines in 15-35 foot of water most of the time.

We use night crawlers. Earlier this year a guy put out above us with cut shad caught a 78 lb blue.

I put two hooks on my jugs. One at 2 feet or so and one at four feet. I've put one type of bait on the upper one type on the lower and see what they are hitting. Livers seem to always win out though.
