I guess they want the hooks to rust out of the mouth of a fish when they are lost. I wonder if they make titanium hooks.

They banned treble hooks for all of the following species years ago:
flounder
permit
pompano
African pompano
red drum (redfish)
shark
sheepshead
snook
spotted seatrout
tarpon
tripletail
balck drum
SS circle ban is new and just something else to deal with.

I think it's a good idea too. I would prefer to see the hooks of lost fish (and the chicken poopy released toothy stuff) rust out. Need to put a little menhadden oil in with some regular oil to swab the hooks with or you'll have a rusted together mass on the boat. Have to check the gear more often.

Check out the descending devices for release of reef fish. Venting isn’t good enough anymore. Barracuda will eat the snot out of one floating though.

I was the first to land a 40 something inch redfish. Deckhand couldn’t get lines cut any quicker and threw my fish overboard. Too big he said and a 3k fine for each one of those fish on board. I always thought that was a big waste.

Regulation Changes Beginning August 1, 2019
Cobia
36 inches fork length
Spotted Sea Trout
Slot Length is 15 inches total length to 22 inches total length
6 per person, per day with one over 22 inches total length allowed
Flounder
14 inches total length (recreational and commercial)
Recreational creel limit is 5 per person
Commercial creel limit is 40 per person or 40 per vessel
Closed season for flounder is November 1 through November 30 for both recreational and commercial anglers
Hook Requirements
Anglers fishing for, retaining, possessing, or landing gulf reef fish species (as defined in Rule 220-3-.46) must use non-stainless steel circle hooks when using natural bait.
Anglers fishing for, retaining, or possessing, or landing sharks must use non-offset, non-stainless steel circle hooks when using natural bait.

I could cite fishing and duck hunting laws as evidence they may modify the weapons of the second amendment but they won’t get rid of it. Having rules, permits, stipulation, penalties, and worse yet a law officer that really enforces the tyrannical crap is all a big money maker and control thing.
