Ok this is driving me crazy they are not panthers they are cougers or mountain lions. Panthers are black and not found in North America slow down, take a breath, and THINK before hitting the send button....

mountain lions have been called panthers for hundreds of years here in the US. those in yer link are properly called leopards and jaguars, not panthers. I never heard anyone in Africa call a leopard a panther, and I really doubt that anyone in Brazil calls a jaguar a panther. Pick one or the other, ya can't have it both ways.....

My grandfather told ghost stories around camp fires for years. One of his best was a story about catamounts. When I was older I learned that it was just another name for a cougar. LOL

We've got coyotes now because people like you wanted all the native red wolves killed goofy.
Nobody said anything about releasing wolves or panthers into populated areas.
Who killed the red wolfes and when. Just wondering.

49er Cougar Cougar, Puma concolor, aka Puma, is a native cat to South and North America, and live in mountains more often than not. Cougars are the fourth largest cats, and they are agile with a slender body. An average adult male is about 75 centimetres tall and measures about 2.75 metres between nose and the base of the tail. Their whole weight body could range between 50 and 100 kilograms. A size analysis with the latitude suggests that cougars are larger towards the temperate regions and smaller towards the equator. Colouration of cougars is simple with almost uniform distribution of the yellowish-brown colour coat, but the belly is whiter with little darker patches. In addition, the coat could sometimes be either silvery-greyish or reddish without complex stripes. However, the cubs and the adolescents vary in their colouration with spots as well. There has not been any documented record about sighting a black cougar in the literature. Florida is full of outlaws and they have panthers.
You won't see as many of them as you think.
Even in the Western States where populations are high, comparatively speaking, sightings are extremely low.
How many bobcats have you seen in a lifetime of hunting in Alabama? There are lots of them around the state but they aren't seen on a daily or even a yearly basis by most hunters. Up til about 4 years ago I had only seen a bobcat once in my life while hunting. I have seen at least 1 and sometimes 2 a year since then. Walked up on one before daylight this year that was only 10ft away. Watched one kill and eat a squirrel the year before last. Was gonna shoot it with my bow but couldn't get a shot so I watched it eat that squirrel for 10 minutes.

I like the header, Panther - Alabama native. The reason I like it is that the "Florida" Panther is the same one that lived in Alabama, Georgia,Louisiana, Mississippi and that resides now in Texas and the rest of the western U.S.
Florida biologists were able to reclassify it as a separete species, an endangered one at that, for one reason, federal money.
The hunters of south florida, most if not all, would love for Alabama or any other state to come and get every one of these supposedly endangered cats.
Then hunters in other parts of the country will see what we have been putting up with for decades. As the panther population grows more land is needed for them and more land is taken away from hunters.
Right now a huge scam is going on down here called the Everglades Headwtaers Wildlife refuge. Hundreds of thousands of acres are in danger of going from open hunting to limited or no hunting when this is rammed down our throats. All this for the stinking 'Florida" panther which is no more endangered than house cats.
There is a lot more history to the "discovery" of the panther in Florida but I get too worked up to dwell on it for long.
So go ahead Alabama hunters. Support your state bringing in these cats and see how you like all the new regs that go with it.
