I originally was in school to become an engineer. I got burned out though and decided to change majors so I could graduate quicker. I work with engineers nearly daily. I really wish I had stuck it out. Not really for the money as much as the job satisfaction and security. I tell my boys to find something you 1) love to do and can actually make a living doing, 2) has enough job security/demand, that if you hate who you work for, you can quit and have a new job by the end of the week. Lots of peace in that. I also tell them to invest the maximum you can, into a 401k, the first day you are eligible. I wished I had done that 15 years sooner.
