It’s hard for me to say I wish I’d chosen a different path but I often wonder. I believe my calling was one of two things. Number one would be the military. I’m meant to be killing shucks as I’ve done this since I can remember. Number two, I could enjoy operating a big piece of machinery. Perhaps a ship, crane, excavator? Moving and handling big machinery intrigues me. Anyone else ever ponder about a different career path?

If I could do it all over again. I would have saved a lot more at a young age. Live in Montana and do fabrication. The higher you go up, the more the stress.

I know climbing trees aint a glorious way to make a living but I cant imagine doing anything else. I took autocad in college. Liked about a quarter or so getting a degree. I cannot see me sitting at a computer all day. Im right where im supposed to be.

The biggest thing I wish I would of done and I think young professionals should do in general is take risks in their 20's verses waiting until they are settled in with family and "comfortably" living. More than anything, I wish me and Travis would have opened a business a decade ago.
It's ok now because I have a nice comfy job with more than an adequate amount of off time to focus on a business, but I also missed 10 years by "waiting". I don't think I would pick a field outside of the HVAC world though.

I have had several different career paths. My advice would be when people tell you to do something you enjoy..... once it becomes real and stressful work..... you will enjoy it a whole lot less. You really have to decide what you want out of life and what makes you happy. I doesn't take much to make me happy but for whatever reason I am a glutton for punishment. If I didn't have so much drive personally.... I still gotta admit I would probably be more happy in life in general just punching a clock and letting someone else be "the man." It's temping not to worry about having so much while also having essentially ZERO time to enjoy it.
For example....You like to fish? Are you happy doing it in a 14ft flat bottom and enjoying it every Saturday or would you rather have a Yellowfin that you only have time to take out 3 times a year because you are working your arse off? That's the question.
Choose your 2nd career path accordingly.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

About 5% of jobs in the military actually kill anything other than time. A common misconception is that it’s ever been any other way. Most jobs are logistics, supply, mechanics, intelligence, etc.
My only regret is not giving my life to Christ sooner. I’m just living his plan anyway.

Wish I had listened to some of my older firefighter buddies and joined the FD. Could have been retired by now. I'll have to work till I die.

Amen to this...I ask the Lord for forgiveness for being a wayward stray for so many years. And I came close to enlisting in the Marine Corp and didn't, so I never served. Came close but backed out at the last minute. The recruiter was calling me every name in the book. This was a very long time ago.

That is easy, yes. For me, when I graduated AU in 1993 with a BSFYE, I should have left my comfort zone and went to a different state to work. It was hard to find jobs back then around here. When I finally did, I really enjoyed what I was doing for a little while until I got a chit head for a boss that made me hate it and him. Left after 12 years with the company. I miss it weekly. Worst decision I ever made. It just led to cascading bad luck for several years.
One thing I would have started earlier trying to break into was the real estate side of things. That should have been going on in my early 30s and did not.
A different career, maybe. Call me crazy, but I have always wanted to own a tote-yo-note lot with 150+ cars financed out. I have a couple friends that do and they do VERY well.

I entered college with the intent to get a law degree. Instead I got a degree in computer science. I've always wondered where I would be if I had stuck to my original choice.

If we can throw our wife into this mix... mine was on track for pharmacy school and decided for education instead. I joke with her and tell her I would only be working part time if she had went the pharmacist route.

Too many variables right now that influence the job market. I bet. She would have entered aboit 10 years ago. I would still try to work part time regardless. Maybe focus on a professional hunting and fishing career.  In retrospect if I didnt go into the field I'm in now, I would like to of been some sort of talk show/podcast type of career. People now a days can get into that easy verses having to go through an actual media degree. Now you can Start a youtube channel or podcast, if it takes off, your good to go.
