Don’t be a hater just because the only thing you can “bbq” is a pork roast. The world is a much bigger place. You’re like CNC with his dog fennel thinking it’s the sign of a healthy ecosystem.
Sonofa... rofl

Dadgum Texicans think if something is cooked over an open flame it’s BBQ. With that idea Burger King is BBQ. Come to think of it then charbroiled patties are kinda close to your normal dried azz brisket.

BBQ is roasting meat over a flame while it rests on sticks or something other apparatus. Barbacoa Buccaneers has something to do with Columbus and exploration of the new world.
Hooks BBQ in Troy is good.

It be's that way sometimes.

Thanks. Have not been there in, my gosh, I bet 20 years! Use to be a store about a block away that sold everything from groceries to sporting goods. Had rather good prices on fishing equipment.

The very best BBQ ribs I ever had was a little joint in Memphis. Can't recall the name but the ribs were outstanding.

Butcher Paper in Opelika has good pork. Chris's and Fat Boys in Prattville are good. Fat Boys may be out of business.

The best:
Jim's is outstanding.
Kendall's is great.
R&R is fine stuff.
Saws is excellent

The good:
Original Golden Rule in Hoover or Irondale, outside sliced.
Carlisle's is good.
Whitt's especially with the hot sauce
Several others but my list is at the office.

The bad:
Big Bob Gibson is trash
Lawlers is gross
Sonny's is horrible
Lloyd's on 280 has horrible bbq

I dont like BBQ slathered in sauce. best ribs to me were at a place called heavenly ribs in sumiton. They had dry rubbed ribs that were great to me.

The PIT BBQ in Bham has some of the worst to me. You cant get it sliced, and their chopped is so fine sometimes its like eating mushy bbq sauce.

Im ok with Bob Sykes with some hot sauce added to it.
Green top actually does decent smoked wings about half the time. Its hit or miss.
Full moon has a great bbq chicken plate
Carlisle has a good smoked turkey plate.

Dreamland isnt what it was 20 yrs ago.

Worst in the Great State of Alabama is Country’s BBQ in Montgomery or Demetri’s BBQ in Homewood or Full Moon or Gibson’s on the Parkway in Huntsville and Big B in Alex City that ought to be forced to take BBQ off their sign

Overrated - any franchised Dreamland, Bob Gibson’s pork

Underrated - pork at August’s on 280 near childersburg. Moes wings.

Rendezvous?

People will call it a tourist trap, and it is. But when the Rendezvous is “on”, they’re unbeatable. Even when they’re not, they’re still really good.
