Perfect example of the government cooking the frog slowly. Starts out with a volunteer program to record your deer, to now you can’t get a deer processed unless you’ve recorded it. If you don’t understand this principle hen your a flaming liberal or an idiot. Most likely both.

Kind of like the whole state car insurance deal. 1st they just said there would be a $500 ticket issued for driving without liability insurance. That has evolved into you can't get a tag without proof of insurance. Of course there are insurance companies out there that will sell you a $20/month bullshucks policy to get you around that.

Maybe you can explain it for us idiots. How it is a burden on the processor for someone dropping off a deer to write down a number in a block between there name and phone number. I asked this question already and instead of answering it people just resort to name calling like a democrat.

I think Reeds is booked about 8 or 9 months out on beef and hogs as are most meat processors right now. They probably don't have room for deer.

A processors job is to process a deer. If the state wants numbers written down they should set up check points to check in your deer. Not get the little guy trying to make a living dealing with blood and guts to do it for them. I’d be like an oil change place saying they can’t change your oil because your tag is expired something stupid like that. It isn’t their job to follow up on who is going by the laws. It’s also a burden if a guy manages to get out of there after dropping off a deer without recording his number. Then it falls on the processor who is guilty of nothing but trying to make a living.

All they have to do is provide you a space for you to write a number in. They don’t have to make sure it is a valid number, just a space on a piece of paper for a number and make sure there are some numbers in the space. There are other states that do the same thing or a lot worse. There are a lot of people on this site that travel to those states to hunt and somehow they have figured out how to do it. I don’t know what the people expect the state to do to try and manage the resource. I have hunted where you had to take your deer to a check in station, that is way worse.

I guess the processors might feel like all that is none of their business. Thats between the hunter and the dcnr. They also probably dont want to be a part of any investigation later on that the number might come up in, making them witnesses somehow.

Nobody is bickering dude. Just pointing out different sides of a topic. Some of us do process our own deer most of the time. Sometimes I don’t have time to and will drop it off somewhere.

Complaining about something without offering a solution to is just whining! For what it costs to process just one good buck deer you can own your own motor, grinder and cuber. The catch is not everybody has a place to skin their deer nor wants too...Nor did everybody here...not pointing fingers...has had someone show them how to cut up and process a deer. I did...I have a place skin and butcher so i cut up and process my own....grinder, cuber, the works.
If a processor quits because they don't want to write a number down on your check in sheet that YOU must provide they are being very shortsighted or just looking for a reason to quit the biz.

Or, maybe because they are so covered up with sides of beef to process that they don't have room for deer. Last I heard, they were scheduled out to September 2021 for beef. Not that I am a fan of the new/any added regulation, I just know that they are already covered up with business (good for them).

Or, maybe if you read their post you'll see that's not the excuse they used. And my point was, why make a post saying the decision has been made to quit, then a few sentences down say we're STILL WEIGHING the decision.

Who gives a crap what they do in other states. Just because they do it doesn’t make it right. Any government involvement ends up being bad on the people that the government supposedly works for. This won’t work any better than anything else they’ve done. They need to quit forcing the issue. This whole game check is a joke. All it has done is discourage people from participating.

Here's a few thoughts and questions. If you kill a deer out of state, processors I deal with won't accept it unless it's boned out. Are they going to want a CID # from another state? Are Game Wardens going to do random audits at processors? One processor I deal with does great work but they always seems stressed and look for something to raise heck about. Almost like the "soup nazi" on Seinfeld. I don't know how a game warden would fare with him trying to audit as they process thousands of deer. What if people bring in 200 pounds of boned out venison with 1 CID # and insist it was a large doe? 2020 just does not seem to let up.

Bottom line.
If the processor is "required" to collect the game check info, then there will be some kind of penalty for noncompliance.
Therefore he is being unfairly appointed as an officer of the state and not compensated in any way. The very definition of unfunded state mandate.

You are correct sir
This is just a shot in the dark by Chucky to make a failed system work
My guess is he’ll be taken to court over this

This^^^^^. Not to mention that, if you read the regulations, the 48 hr. rule is STILL in effect. So, how can this new requirement be enforced?? I would tell the processor, I'll have the confirmation number in a few hours. If Mr. Green Jeans asks, have him check my CID.
