I would pay a lot for a couple of those permits.

I've done half of those without the permit. šŸ˜‰

It's the principle of the whole thing. There's principalities in this.

Everyone come check out the big brain on king!

I seriously doubt there is a single person here that's against the baiting permit b/c they "can't afford it".

Answer me this, smart guy.............let's say you choose not to buy the permit because [insert whatever reason you want]. Let's say someone else in your club put a corn pile 75yds from a stand, but you can't see it and have no idea it's there, but Mr Greenjeans walks up and accuses you of hunting over bait without a permit. Whatcha gonna tell him? It's a chitty law/rule/regulation, but it is what it is. And a lot of people feel like they're being forced to buy a "baiting permit" for that very reason, myself included. I have ZERO intention of hunting over bait - not because of some moral issue with it, but because I'm cheap and I don't think corn is near the miracle bait that some think it is. But I also hunt land that other people hunt and know there is always a possibility it's around even if I don't know about it. And because of the way the rule is written, the state is basically extorting you for $15 under threat of fine over something you potentially had zero knowledge of.

This is exactly the attitude the chuckie wants everyone to share. Nevermind that it's illegal, greedy, and dishonest.

No, it's not that simple. Plenty of people who chose not to hunt over bait will be charged with the crime for hunting near bait someone else placed near where they hunt. Charging fees to commit crimes indicates our government is corrupted. That's worse than the crime itself.

Exactly! And the Reef Fishing license is even worse. I talked to a state official last week about this and pointed out that the dcnr encouraged folks to buy a lifetime license because it would exempt us from any future license like this. You can't sell somebody a lifetime license and then tell them it doesn't cover certain types of fishing. The state has broken it's contract with us on this one. The guy admitted I was right and said this was being "looked at." I'm not sure what that means, but I think if anyone carried them to court, the state would lose. He defended the license because they get federal matching money that makes it worth a lot more than $10 for them. I'm happy for the department to get money, but they need to find a legal way to do it.

Now surely you don't expect us to pass up a good argument!?!?

There seems to be a misprint, which will probably be corrected.
Baiting on private land permit is not optional. Even though it did say it is .
So. ...
I hope this helps.

Bottom line ... don't depend on their own website for accurate info.

Deliberate? Who knows? They do stand to gain from it.

I hav never been a baiter until it became legal - I have enjoyed the heck out of it personally - see more bucks on camera and hav better inventory of what is on my place. I will gladly pay it to do it and glad I am able to do it. Had 2 shots at shooters Last year which is more than I get in The past during a normal season.
Corn farmers and co-oops probably happy
