You can thank Obama for that. He put a 35% tarriff on China imports allowing all the tire manufactures to go up and make more profit.

in the same boat as you, look at discount tire direct I can order tires $200 - $250 cheaper than any place i have called in Huntsville. They have free shipping too, matter fact I told my main oil and tire guy who i go to church with and he said to just order them from there and he'd put them on it'd be $200 cheaper than what he could do at best.

I have a little oversize. There 285/70/17's & best I found was $876.00 for firestone destination A/T. Most places where 950 & up.

I'm getting ready to feel the pinch, but darn if I don't have 120,000+ on my current set of Michelins.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Tire Rack Family used to be part owner in a tire store. I still get the hook up. Thank Goodness. Got 4 mounted/ balanced for 575. Theres your mark-up

I'm going to need some before deer season. I was in wally world over fhe weekend and they sell Goodyear tires and the wrangler mud grips 235/75/16 were 155.00 and some change a piece. Look like good tires. Sam's don't sell the wrangler mudders for some reason.
My question is if you buy them on line who would mount them and for how much. What about rotate and balance for the lifetime of the tires. I'm funny about doing business with a jack leg.

I have always bought take off's. I paid $175 for 4 265/70/17 buckshots with 70% tread, mounted balanced out the door.

I bought a new set on ebay about 2-3 years ago. The tire store mounted and balanced them for $80-100, can't remember the exact amount. They did specifically say that since I didn't buy the tires from them that it didn't include lifetime rotate and balance and they weren't liable for any damage to the tire pressure sensors. Made me sign something before they put them on. It's not really a problem because I can rotate my own tires, just pay to have them balanced if I feel like they need it. FWIW - I paid $555 on ebay for the set of 4 with free shipping back then. Just looked up the same tires and they're $800 now with free shipping. Gotta love the devaluation of the dollar.
