Has anybody hunted there? if so is half in bama and the other in georgia which would mean two different deer seasons. Im down here at auburn and it looks to be bout a 30 min drive i wouldnt mind trying out some of the bow only zones. Any info on it would be great.thanx

Its Ga's rut,just like the management area in Eufaula.I've seen plenty of deer up the river.
You'll need to contact a local Corps office for a free permit.

I guess i would need to get a ga hunting license then? i know u can use ur al hunters education card but i have no idea where mine is.

Unless it has changed, you can hunt the AL side with an AL license. Pretty good spots around the lake and not a lot of hunting pressure.

i might have to ride over there next weekend any body ever been there my guess would have to be mostly hardwood or at least a good mixture since its on the lake

If you're in Alabama you use Bama license.YOU MUST have a Corp permit.They are free tho.

The areas I have seen are almost all hardwoods. There are a lot of places that have a 50 yard wide swath of hardwoods by the lake bordered by pines. Pretty good setup if you ask me. Find a boat if you don't have one as it will allow you to easily and quietly get to areas others can't walk to.

Bowhunter I have some land on both sides of the lake that joins the Corps land. On the AL side most of the land appears to be in pines, on the Ga side mostly hardwoods with alot of white oaks.The corps office is on the dam road, I believe the corp charges $25 for a permit and you will need a GA license to hunt the GA land. If your going to hunt in GA youd better hurry the rut should be peaking around mid-Nov and you will need a boat to access the best land. Good luck.
