Have any of you used this and how did you like it?

Just wondering.........I bought a bottle yesterday and I am going to try it out this weekend to help cover my scent a little. I do everything you can do to eliminate my scent but I occasionally get busted and figured it might help. A friend of mine many years ago hunted with the guy that owns this company and they used it all the time and he liked it alot but he does not hunt anymore.

I used it for years and never had a problem with it. I need to get some more!

i use it ALL the time and LOVE it!!! the very first time i used it i had a nice 8 point trail me to my stand and i missed. the second time i had another 9 point trail me right to my stand (pic at bottom). which has been my best bow buck to date. i have had several deer follow my trail and i like to spray trees as i walk in. a friend of mine turned me on to that and i have watched them stand and LICK THE TREE where it was sprayed!!! this stuff is awesome!!!!


this deer was about 125 yds out and he hit my trail and came nose down to my tree. he was shot at 8 yds!!!!

I've used it. I don't really think it is going to pull deer in from a long way off. However, it is great during bow season. I've had luck with it, as well as C'mere Deer, getting deer to position them where you want them for a shot. For instance, if you are hunting the edge of a field, I'l spray some 15-25 yards out in front of me in the field. Usually if a deer comes in the field and gets a whiff of it, they'll come over to investigate it because they are curious. Otherwise, you're liable to spend all afternoon watching deer at 75-200 yards away. It also works well to stop deer in your shooting lanes. I've also used it in big oak flats where you're not sure exactly where the deer are going to wander through and feed. If I'm going to be walking in by a shooting lane or two, I'll spray some in that spot. They'll usually stop in the hole to sniff it, and give you a shot if you want it. It doesn't put the deer on full alert like stopping them with a sound does. Again, I don't think it is going to draw deer to a field that they weren't going to already, or pull them down a trail they weren't already coming down, but it does have it's uses. I won't stomp all around my stands spraying it everywhere, but I will spray some where it is convenient as I come in. And it seems to work. I've experimented with the different doe pees (buck urine, estrous doe, and regular doe pee), and I've seen a lot of deer spook from it. I have not seen deer spook from the water/sugar/vanilla/salt/etc. sprays like Shines or C'mere Deer. It is not a magic bullet that is going to make you suddenly start seeing deer if you weren't before. But, it can be used to subtly move the deer to where you want them.

To me it smells like Dales Sauce and Vanilla... I used it a couple of times and could not stop thinking about steaks!!

That's exactly what I said, first time I smelled it. I believe it is a mixture of Dales marinade and Vanilla Flavoring.
It certainly don't smell like no acorn, that's a fact.

i have been using this for quite some time. actually got some from a friend who is friends with the owner of the company. i got to be one of his test subgects before it hit the market. and have been using it ever since. had quite a few deer follow my trail right to the tree after spraying some on my boots.

I have and continue to use it. I would spray myself like the directions said. After the first few times, I quit washing my huntin clothes and would just put a little more on every hunt. I was amazed at how well it works, killed many deer at extremely close range looking for acorns were my scent was washing to. I have noticed a few problems with it. If you spray yourself with it, deer may get way too close, spot you and be gone. The other problem is that now that I hunt in SOUTH Alabama, where whiteoaks are few and far between, it seems to spook the crap out of them. Been hunting the water oaks and they turn inside out when they smell the stuff, times when I know they weren't downwind of me, yet could smell where I had sprayed it on the ground, trees, etc. Perty selective noses I guess. Water oak acorns must smell considerably different than white oak acorns.

You need to recalibrate your sniffer. That stuff smells just like a five gallon bucket of acorns.

You are the only person I ever heard say that.
Maybe you need to get re-calibrated.

I have about umpteen dozen White Oak trees and I have actually filled up a 5 gallon of acorns ... and they don't smell like Dales Steak sauce or Vanilla.

Now I didn't say the stuff don't work. Vanilla has been used for a cover scent by some of the world's most successful hunters.
But White Oak Acorn scent, it ain't.

Speaking of acorn scent, has anybody tried acorn rage blast?

Who sells it? I haven't seen any in years.
It might be because I haven't looked for it.

So OB ,you're tellin me those deer are really lookin for a ribeye ? LOL

I dont believe in any of the scent products.I try to leave the woods as natural as possible.do your scouting find trails and food sources.get the wind right and do your time.If you have deer they will come eventually.We make it way harder and more expensive than it has to be.

Started using it this year, and like it. Store here in Selma sells it, and the new Magnum version.

I caught wind of Shines White Oak scent this morning, while stalk hunting, and I was sure someone had slipped in to the area.
I figured another hunter upwind of me must have fallen in a puddle of Shine's.
I've never smelled anything, in the woods, with that particular flavor.
However, after searching for the intruder, I finally located the origin of the smell ... and grove of young White Oak trees, maybe 10 to 12 years old.
Not sure why I've never noticed that before, but I believe the youngster was right.

Lol Outback, I am all too familiar with the scent of white oaks, as I smelled the same smell you did this morning. I guess I have never tried to distinguish the various mixtures of scents that could go into a bottle to immitate that smell. I guess a mixture of vanilla and dale's would be close, but it still isn't like that of a grove of white oaks.
